'im holding you to it....DEAR,' Nevada said with a chuckle. She looked over to where Tristan pointed and made a face...though she relaxed when she saw Rae-at least she wouldn't go into this not knowing anyone. She turned back to Tristan once more, 'I'm looking forward to this dinner you speak of,' she said before walking over to where Tristan pointed.

((he was supposed to tell her rae was over there, sorry LOL))
"Hey Nevada!" Raven said with a grin, "This is Sapphy and her friend who I haven't been introduced to yet." She said with a shrug.

Race had elected to arrive fashionably late because, as every gambler knows, nothing interesting ever happens during the first few rounds. The cards have to warm up, and the wimpy low-stakes players have to get weeded out, before the serious players can really have any fun.
"Hey, everyone," he said nonchalantly, sliding into an empty chair and waiting for the round to end so he could get dealt in. He looked around with a friendly smile, as if to say, I will in no way be winning all your money tonight. Never crossed my mind.

Sapphy saw Race enter from across the room. Should she go over there? She knew how seriously Race took gambling... She looked over her shoulder at Kennedy singing to Nevada.
They wouldn't even notice if she left. So she did. She caught Race's eyes and smiled, giving him a little wave.

"Sapphy!" he exclaimed with a grin, hoping a moment later that it hadn't sounded too enthusiastic for a friendly greeting. Not that she didn't know how he felt by now. But he would get over that soon--there were plenty of pretty girls here tonight, right? Right! Sapphy was just a friend. "Gonna try your hand at cards tonight, or are you just here for the company? It's excellent, with a few exceptions." He motioned at Spot, shaking his head grimly--jokingly, of course, since he and Conlon were actually on good terms right now.
The hand came to an end, and Race motioned for his cards. Feminine wiles would not distract him. He could multitask.

Sapphy pursed her lips together, scrutinizing Race as he got into poker face mode.
"No, I don't have any money tonight."

"I could spot you if you want--wait," Race said, looking up from his cards as he remembered she was in debt. "You're supposed to be the responsible one. Ignore my wicked temptations!" That...may have come out wrong. He smiled somewhat sheepishly. "You can watch if you want. 'Fraid it's not as exciting as horses, but..." He shrugged, sounding just a little hopeful, and then shoved a rather impressive little stack of poker chips into the center of the table. He always opened with a bet that let the table know he meant business.

"Don't lemme see your cards," she told Race. "I'll give ya away." In her mind, she wanted to demand where he'd been the last couple days, that she missed him. He was just a good friend and perhaps she was a tad worried. Last she saw him was on the steps of the lodge with Ershey, Kid, and Mush.
Sapphy smiled and squeezed into the table next to Race.

Tristan glared at Racetrack. Whenever Race was in on a game and Tristan was playing the little shit always beat him. ALWAYS. Statistically proven out of ten games.
"I'm beating you this time, I don't care what it takes," It annoyed Tristan to no end that he couldn't beat Race at a game of cards. He took a pull of his cigarette and smirked.

"I'm sure you'll do your very best," Race said soothingly, smirking right back, because Tristan's determined expression was irresistibly funny. And because the cards were with him tonight, he could feel it. He felt it practically every night.
He glanced at Sapphy, which was probably a bad idea, but he couldn't help it. He thought she looked a little distant, as if something were bothering her. Could she have heard about his recent trips to Brooklyn, trips that had nothing to do with poker? Soon enough, he'd be moving in for a while, and he couldn't very well keep anything from her then.
"Don't forget," he said softly to her, "we owe each other questions tonight. Not here, obviously, but...later?" She would ask, he was sure of that, and then he'd tell all. It was as good a time as any.

"Damn straight," He glanced down at his cards. Why did he always have shitty luck at poker? Why? Cause he was a catholic, that's why and the Catholic's weren't supposed to gamble...well Tristan was sick and tired of Jesus messing with him.
((i dunno LOL))

((ROFL <3333 ))
Sapphy lounged back in her chair, smirking rather confidently.
"I know. And I'm gonna be brutal with you tonight," she shot back. Sapphy was always trying to escape, but with Race she never felt that need -- she could be herself and it was the most comforting feeling she felt in quite some time.
