((YES! She and Sapphy can re-group after all the boys run off to save Raven -- cause Sapphy'll be tipsy and clueless.))

"You won't!" Sapphy laughed. "Don't worry too much."

[Stagey]

She took a deep breath, glancing at her dimly-lit reflection, a little unsure if it was really as spiffed-up as she would have liked. "Very well." She tried to avoid looking like she was going into the lions' den. "Lead the way, Miss Sapphy."

SOME TIME LATER...

Sapphy and Stagey had been separated as soon as they entered the lobby. It was when Sapphy was taking her breather from Racetrack that she ran into her friend again.

"Hey!" she said brightly, mood instantly melting. "How've you liked it so far?"

[Stagey]

It took a while for Stagey to realize that she had been spoken to. "Hmm? Oh!" She broke out into an animated smile. "THERE you are! I was looking for you because I wanted to give you some of my--"

Thrusting a bottle towards Sapphy, Stagey frowned, pulling it back to her. "Well, blast it all... It's empty. You see, I wanted to share this --and then I got a taste, because, Sapphy, this is remarkably yummy." Her face fell. "But I had it all. I'm such a bloody awful friend, I beg you'll forgive me."

[Sapphy]

Sapphy smiled at Stagey.

"You're not. You're a wonderful friend." She sat down next to her. "Shall we have another?"

[Stagey]

You would have thought Sapphy had offered a five course meal on silver plates. "That would be marvelous." She took one remaining sip from her bottle, setting it on an empty table.

[Sapphy]

Sapphy looked around at all the newsies, then back to Stagey.

"Have you been drinking this whole time?" she asked, wide-eyed.

[Stagey]

For the first time, Stagey had to think about that one. "Um." She looked from one side, to the other, making calculations in her head. "Yes. I think so. I don't remember where I got this bottle from." She snorted out a laugh. Sober Stagey, quite honestly, would be having a fit.

[Sapphy]

And Sapphy knew that.

"Hmmm... You know what this means, right?" she smiled at Stagey, eyes twinkling.

[Stagey]

She looked a little apprehensive. "What does it mean? Does it mean they're all going to think I'm a..." She said the word in a hushed tone: "...a floozy?"

[Sapphy]

"No!" Sapphy laughed. "It means, I have to catch up to ya," she said as she got the bartender's attention and motioned for a second bottle.

[Stagey]

"Ohhh." Made sense. Then, she lowered her voice, grinning at her. "Can you get me another one too?" Sheesh, if drinking alcohol was always this fun, she should really do it more often.

[Sapphy]

"Make that two!" Sapphy called to the bartender. She had no idea how she was going to pay for this later, but she'd figure it out.

[Stagey]

"And what have you been up to?" she queried, leaning against a wall, tilting her head toward Sapphy. "I lost you the second we left backstage. Who on earth knew there'd be so many people here?"

[Sapphy]

"I know," Sapphy agreed. "Just mingling and getting pissed at Race."
