Sapphy & Stagey

[Stagey]

"Really?" Legitimate sympathy lingered under that bottle of alcohol. "Aw, Sapphy. Men are rats, aren't they? What's his problem?"

[Sapphy]

"He called me crazy," Sapphy muttered. "I mean..." She sighed, relaxing. "He was only teasing me, ya know? But that word... It's like calling me a bitch, you know? It's such a trigger word for me."

[Stagey]

"I know what you mean." Her eyes lit up gratefully as she accepted another bottle from the bartender. "Jack probably thinks I'm crazy too. Being his puppy dog and all. But I say, screw 'I'm." ((Oh drunk!Stagey.)) "Screw Race too. Screw 'em all."

[Sapphy]

"Here, here," Sapphy said clinking, er, whole wine bottles with Stagey. She didn't even bother getting a glass.

[Stagey]

"We don't need anybody," she vowed, tipping her head to clink against Sapphy's. "Who says we need anyone? We don't."

[Sapphy]

"Agreed," Sapphy smiled, putting her arm around Stagey's shoulders. "You and me should move out west before Cowboy, that'd make him awfully sore. Then you and I can get horses and rob banks."

[Stagey]

Her eyes lit up, wildly grinning. "Brilliant." Another swig from the bottle. "We should just tell 'em off, you know? And then rob some banks." Because that was just the sort of thing that less inhibited Stagey would want to do.

[Sapphy]

"We need aliases. People already know Sapphy and Stagey. Nicknames of nicknames. Bleh!" Sapphy made a face.

[Stagey]

"We'll go by our real names," she offered sagely, patting Sapphy's shoulder. "Nobody will recognize those in a million years." Nicknames were handy in that sort of way.

[Sapphy]

"Perfect!" Sapphy laughed. "I think we'll need to learn how to use guns..." she added thoughtfully.

[Stagey]

"Couldn't we use another sort of weapon?" she dared to reply, thinking out loud. Her hand snuck up her leg, playfully lifting it just over her knee. Whether any of the male participants of the poker game spotted that, she wasn't sure. "We can use our... feminine wiles."

[Sapphy]

"But what if we get in a tight spot?" Sapphy asked urgently. "Guns, knives, whips, Chinese -- or is it Japanese? -- throwing stars, poison, rope, axes, and maybe some weapons by our own design..."

[Stagey]

"That all sounds good." She hiccuped slightly. Somewhere in the sober corner of her mind, Stagey could stand to run away from everything. "We'll take six of every one of those. And seven axes, because you can just never have enough of those."

"And they'll all come in a variety of sizes like... Big axe. And small axe," Sapphy nodded at Stagey seriously.

"We need approximately twelve of each size." Might as well up the ante. "And we'll both need another bottle." Her eyes scanned the crowded hall. "Where'd Race head off to? I can spit on him for you."
