"Um..." Tag gazed around the restaurant as if she could find the answer on the walls.
"The Brooklyn Lodging House? Queens? The Bronx? Five Points?" She simply shrugged, not really knowing of any other options. "Are you looking for somewhere to stay?"

"No," he said, smiling mysteriously. His food came and he dug in.

"...Oh." Tag tilted her head at him. Then, she remembered he had asked her where girls usually stay.
"Are you looking for someone, then?"

"Your girlfriend? Or your sister, maybe?" Tag loved mysteries. She'd read so many by now that she'd picked up on how to solve them.

"Maybe yes, maybe no," Copper enjoyed the role-reversal. Now she was the one talking and asking all the questions.

"Well, if there's anything I can do to help, I'd like to." She stated with a small shrug.
"Do you think she's here? In Manhattan, I mean." Lord knows, this mystery girl could be anywhere in Manhattan. But, Tag figured there was a reason why he was asking her. Maybe this girl was a newsie, as well.

"How do you know I'm not looking for a place to pick up lonely girls?" Copper smirked.

"Because I've got a feeling you'd be able to find that place on your own." Tag almost gasped at herself. She never spoke like that to anyone, let alone a stranger!

Copper snickered, trying to hold it in. But it soon came out into a full laugh.
"You've got that right, kid!"

Tag bit back a smile, proud of herself for actually speaking what was on her mind.
"You won't tell me the truth, then?"

"Nope. I need to do this on my own. I can do it on my own," he quickly amended, looking determined. "But thanks for giving me the female perspective."

Tag shot him a very small, shy smile. "You're welcome."
She loved helping people, even strange boys like this Copper. Plus, he was kind of dreamy, so she didn't mind.

"So, you're a newsie?" he asked conversationally as he polished off his sandwich.

"Well, yes." She answered, remembering she'd said that she sold newspapers just a few minutes ago.
