Risk raised an eyebrow at the girl. He thought she saw another butterfly of some sort but when he followed her gaze, he saw that the two siblings were right on the roof.
"Calm down, let's go upstairs," laughed Risk, walking up towards the porch and opening the door to the lodging house.

For a moment, Tara just stood there, frozen. But she couldn't very well justify being this nervous about reuniting with an old "friend." It wasn't like she could tell this Risk guy that Clara had been her first kiss, her first love, the first person to know her one and only secret, and it was kind of traumatizing to just waltz back into her life after four years.
"Right." She squared her shoulders. "Let's do this." And she followed Risk blindly.

Risk was about to walk towards the stairs when he heard Tara's hesitation in her voice. "Are you sure this is a good idea? You two aren't going to claw at each other or something?"

"No!" Tara assured him. "I mean, I'm not, and I...I'm sure she wouldn't either...but, uh, maybe you should go first. Just to sort of announce me? I don't want to give them a shock."

"Announce you?" repeated Risk, laughing softly. "You're somethin' else, y'know that? Alright, but after that, I'm gettin' out of the way..."
He shook his head at her before finally making his way upstairs and towards the rooftop. He opened the latch and climbed the steps, peeking out to see both Goblin and Wraith. "Hey, uh, Wraith... there's someone here to see you."

Tara hesitantly stepped out from behind him to see Clara looking alarmed and Sebastian totally baffled. "Hi," she said in a small voice.

Wraith yelped and was on her feet in under a second. "Tara!?" Goblin, however, stayed where he was and just stared for a few seconds, then narrowed his eyes at her.
"Yeah," Tara said in an even smaller voice. "It's me."
"What are you doing here?" Wraith demanded, and glanced at Risk. "What are you doing here with him?" The possible implications of having a cop march her ex-girlfriend up to the roof were about to give her a panic attack.
"We met in Central Park!" Tara said brightly. "He was selling papers, and I asked about you. I've been looking everywhere for you."
"What, for the past four years?" Goblin demanded, finally standing up and full-on glaring at her.
"Um..." Tara deflated a little. "More like the past two weeks."
"What, you finally got bored of all those society girls?"
Wraith whirled on him at that, but Tara was faster--she threw her butterfly net and hit him in the shoulder, sending an anxious glance at Risk to see if he'd picked up on the words.
Goblin, after a second, looked equally horrified by what he'd said, shook his head at Tara, stormed past her and Risk, and vanished down the stairs.
Wraith stared at Tara, Tara stared back, and an awkward silence ensued.

Risk stared in fear and confusion. His eyes were wide as saucers as he watched the whole scene play in front of him.
Shit.
"Um," muttered Risk, once the two girls were staring at each other. "Maybe this wasn't a good idea..." He glanced at Tara and whispered, "You said no one was going to get mad!"

"I didn't really factor in Sebastian!" Tara whispered back, looking quite shell-shocked.
Wraith, on the other hand, was clearly in the process of pulling herself together. "It's all right," she told Risk. "They've thrown bigger things at each other." She looked from the net to Tara, and her mouth quirked a little. "Still chasing butterflies?"
Tara returned her shaky smile. "I haven't changed much."
"Yeah?" Wraith sighed. "I have." She suddenly reached out and grabbed Tara's hand, squeezing it as if to make sure she was real, and pulled her toward the edge of the roof. "Come on, let's talk." She looked over at Risk. "If you don't mind...?" she said gently, indicating the stairs. It was slowly dawning on her that he'd arranged this whole little reunion, with no apparent ulterior motive, and she actually felt a little guilty about the fact that he'd soon be getting a visit from Brooklyn.

Risk nodded, already moving down the steps. He had no idea what happened but at least the two girls weren't fighting each other. He gave them a final wave before disappearing back downstairs.
