Tara was supposed to be in class. But there was this butterfly.
It was all black and gold and just the prettiest thing ever. She'd seen it perched on a bush outside her dorm, and just as she came at it with a net, it took off, winging its way down the street. So naturally, she chased it for three blocks, all the way into Central Park, and finally, it landed on a flower. With a wild look in her eyes, Tara made a flying leap and swooped her net down over it. "GOTCHA!"
((Why do I have five characters. Why. Oh well, someone come play with my little ginger!))

Risk was selling papers at Central Park... or attempting to. He was already halfway through his stack of papers and he was sure that he wasn't cut out to be a newsie. Taking a break from shouting headlines, Risk decided to take a stroll. He was about to turn around a corner when he saw a butterfly then a flash of red hair. "Shit!" he muttered, trying to move out of the way. ((I think our characters just all needs to be friends Hahahah))

((Oh gosh, the possibilities of this friendship are weird and wonderful.))
It wasn't until Tara had successfully captured the butterfly that she realized she'd just missed hitting some guy, who looked like he'd been in fear for his life. "Sorry!" she called remorsefully. "It's just...I think it's a tiger swallowtail, I never see them in the city!" She saw his papers and brightened still further, if possible. "Oh, are you a newsie? Do you know Racetrack Higgins? He ruined one of my dresses! He's very nice!"

Risk stood in place and stared, completely confused. What was this upper class looking girl doing here chasing butterflies and talking about Racetrack?
"...Huh?" he mumbled, unable to process all the information she just blurted at him.

Tara sighed. People often had this reaction to her. Holding the net closed with one hand, she brushed a stray curl out of her eyes with the other, then stood, spat in it just like that Jack guy, and offered it to him. "Hi! I'm Tara Fields."

Sure, Risk was undercover and had to 'embody' being a newsie but he wasn't about to do that. This girl had balls. Hypothetical balls.
"I go by Risk," he said, then stared at her hand then back up at her face.
((Hehe))

She looked from him to her hand with chagrin, wiped it on her skirt, and offered it again. "Sorry! I thought it was a newsie custom. How embarrassing." She didn't look that embarrassed. "Or...maybe you don't want to be seen with me. Maybe I'm endangering your reputation." She looked around hopefully. "Are there spies in the bushes?"

Risk almost laughed. Spies? That'd be me.
"N-no, don't worry about it," said Risk, chuckling softly as he finally shook her hand. "I just never got used to that. The other newsies are pretty much used to be starin' at them if they did that to me."

"Ah, I see." She nodded. "So are you new to the trade, then? I guess you probably can't help me...but I'm starting to think no one will. Maybe she doesn't want to be found." She shook her head sadly.

"Sorta new," said Risk, shrugging. "She? Who are you looking for?" It seemed as if everyone was looking or finding somebody nowadays. Too bad she didn't have any luck so far.

"An old friend of mine. Her name's Clara, but she might be going by Wraith. You don't know her, do you?" She looked at him very hopefully indeed.

Risk's jaw dropped. He was about to suggest that Wraith should find her friend but maybe it was her that she needed, after all.
"Why're you lookin' for her?" asked Risk hesitantly. Wraith might've been a bit strange and bossy at times but it didn't mean he wasn't going to look out for her. She did find Ershey for him.

"We were so close when we were children," she sighed. "Then she and her brother ran away. I haven't seen her since I was twelve." She hesitated. "Well...I thought I saw her once, a year ago, but that was a mistake. I'm sure it was."

"If you don't mind me askin'..." started Risk, feeling his curiosity creep in. "Do you know why she ran away?"
He simply wanted to confirm whether she was an enemy or a friend of Wraith's. The last thing he wanted was to send an unwanted 'friend' her way and deal with two angry siblings who plotted to murder a cop.

Tara's eyes narrowed, and she answered in most unladylike terms. "Their stepfather was a bastard. Well, their whole family was a mess, but he was the last straw. I'd have helped them if I could, but I couldn't really take them to my house. My parents would've fainted." She looked miserable.
