"Nah never heard of her," It was his gut reaction, why the hell would this girl be looking for one of his newsies? "Alright well I'm sure Moonshine let Kloppman than. Nice to meet ya, I'm Jack Kelly." He spit in his hand and held it out to Moonshine as well.

Moonsine spit in his own hand and shook. "Hey, Tyler McGowan. Call me Moonshine. Hope ya don't mind me droppin' in. Just lookin' for a place to park it a while." He appreciated the fact that it seemed Jack was looking out for his newsies; he trusted loyalty.

"No problem, everybody's welcome and nobody asks any questions. Just find a bed and make yourself at home. Girls bunk room and washroom are off limits," Jack said pointedly. "You gotta be in before eleven or Klopp locks the doors and your're stuck on the street...though there's ways to still get in." He said with a grin.

Tara waited quietly for this exchange, then looked at Jack again. She had a feeling she knew what was going on here. "Sorry, I must have made a mistake. About Wraith, I mean. But if you happen to meet anyone by that name...could you tell her Tara's looking for her? And will keep on looking for her? Every day? Persistently?" She smiled sweetly.

"If I happen to see this girl that you really wanna see for some reason I probably won't tell her," Jack said still smiling, "cause she probably don't wanna be found."
Jack studied her for a moment. "What's a girl like you doing down here anyways? You can get into a lot of trouble. You're lucky I'm nice."

"I brought a cane!" Tara reminded him, waving it around, then put it down and sighed. "I know. It's just...I haven't seen her in years, and I want to tell her I'm sorry for something. But since she's not here...well, I should probably go." She gave him one last pitiful look and headed for the ladder again, putting the cane back in her mouth in preparation.

Moonshine cleared his throat again, keeping his voice casual. "Ya know....I'm new an' all, and it probably ain't my place, but...I'm a pretty good judge of character, and I'm pretty sure ya can trust Miss Tara here. Just thought I'd put my two cents in." He rocked back on his heels a bit. "For what it's worth."

"It's all right, I understand," Tara said, after removing the cane from her mouth. She flashed Moonshine a bright smile. "Thanks, though. I'm sure we'll meet again!" she added a bit dramatically, before waving cheerfully to Jack and taking the door inside as instructed, even though that was less fun.
She knew she'd be back.

Moonshine smirked good-naturedly. "Ya shoulda spent the last twenty minutes with 'er." He whistled low through his teeth for effect. "So, uh, since yer ther leader 'round these parts, I guess I oughta be thankful to ya for lettin' me stay."
