"Oh, or that. I was close!" He had to admit that he loved her company. She was breath of fresh air from all the other girls he knew around high school. It was tough to find someone was sincere and smart.

Lillian just smiled, biting her lip to stop it from becoming too wide.
By Friday, Lillian felt confident that he knew everything about the French Revolution. Mrs. Holmes handed him a make-up exam once she dismissed the class, and Lillian, before heading out the door, shot him a thumbs up and mouthed 'Good luck!'

Ryan simply smiled nervously as he watched her leave the classroom. He sat down, took a deep breath and began writing his name on the exam. He knew he was ready and that he studied well enough for it. He just hoped he could follow through.
After about an hour later, Ryan walked out of the classroom feeling relieved and confident that he'd pass. He wasn't shooting for an A, but it'd be great if he could pull it off. He glanced around for Lillian, wondering whether she was still around school.

Lillian had so desperately wanted to wait outside, but she was pretty sure that would be creepy. She did, however, pass by the room every 10 minutes or so. She was walking down the hall towards it when she saw it open and Ryan come out. Luckily, her locker was five feet away from her, so she scurried to it and began to open it.

"Lillian!" shouted Ryan excitedly once he saw her. He rushed over to her, all smiles as he leaned against the lockers. "It wasn't so bad!"

Lillian smiled back widely, hugging her books to her chest tightly. "That's good! Can't say I'm surprised, though. You really knew the material," she told him, still smiling. She couldn't help but feel a bit of pride; it was she who had helped him learn it!

"Right," laughed Ryan, rolling his eyes at her. "Hey, look, I wanted to say thanks and pay you back somehow for all the time you took to help me out... are you busy Friday night?"

Lillian stared at him.
"Friday night... T-tonight?"

"Yeah," nodded Ryan, grinning. His face fell when he realized how last minute it was. "Er, unless you already have plans, then, that's ok..."

Lillian blinked. She couldn't really believe this was happening.
"No, I... I don't have any plans. I would love to do something with you."

"Really? You'll hang out with me?" said Ryan gleefully. He hadn't really thought this through but he was exhilarated with the idea of spending more time with Lillian.

"Yeah," Lillian replied, nodding and smiling. Down the hall, she saw Jana watching them with wide eyes.
"I'm in Winchester, room 216," she told him as she started walking toward her roommate.

"Got it! I'll be there at 8!" he replied as he watched her go. For some odd reason, he was incredibly excited and happy about the event later tonight. He was just thanking her yet why was he so nervous?

Lillian scampered off to her room to tell Jana everything and to pick out an appropriate outfit. Was this really happening? Was she really going to hang out with Ryan Lane tonight?!

Ryan figured it'd be a simple hang out. They were going to talk, catch up... up until he noticed how nervous and excited he was about seeing Lillian. Sure, they met up almost every day but they were studying. And this time, they had nothing to distract themselves with. What the hell is going on with me?
Despite his confusion, Ryan got ready, dressed up (a bit more than usual) and promptly knocked on Lillian's door at 8.
