Moonshine stood outside Mama's, waiting for Kathryn. He was early, because he was always early. He briefly regretted not having convinced her to let him pick her up or something more...date-like. But then he thought about how awkward it would be to show up in her hoity-toity neighborhood, and was glad she was just going to meet him at the restaurant.
He shifted on his feet, loosening his collar. This was either going to be an amazing night, or totally suck altogether. And he honestly wasn't sure which it was going to be.

Kathryn almost backed out. She almost stood him up and stayed home, ready to feign an illness if he came calling to ask for her. But, she knew the only way to shake Moonshine off was to go on this date with him. She wouldn't have a good time, but she would go.
She turned the corner and saw him standing up ahead. Her heart started to beat a little faster, though she wasn't sure if she was anxious in general or anxious for the evening to be over.

Somehow, he could just sense her coming. He got that twist in his gut, the one he always got when he thought about her. He still hadn't decided if he liked the feeling her not.
He turned towards her as she approached and gave her a genuine smile. He was a little surprised she'd actually shown up. He took her hand as she approached, lifting it to his lips and kissing her knuckles gently. He let his lips linger a moment before releasing her hand. "Evenin', Sugar. Glad ya could make it."

"How do you do?" she replied. Kathryn had decided to be the epitome of politeness tonight, which she knew would probably get really annoying.

Moonshine's brow quirked upwards a little, but he thought it best not to push. Just yet, anyway. "I do alright, thanks." He opened the door for her, ushering her inside.
Once they were seated at a booth in the corner (a request he had made as soon as he arrived), he settled down across from her, watching her, with a calm expression. "Ya look real pretty tonight, Kathryn."

Kathryn smiled politely over at him, her hands folded in her lap. "Why, thank you, Tyler."
Thanks to all the benefits and galas she was forced to attend, she knew just how to respond to compliments. She never thought she'd be thanking her private tutor for all those lessons on manners.

He felt his back stiffen at her overt air of politeness, but he pushed down the feeling. He only smirked at her, brow arched. "Now, Sugar, don't ya think you oughta play fair here? How am I supposed to get a good shot here when ya already walked in convinced ya aren't gonna have any fun?"

He laughed, he couldn't stop himself. He flashed her a grin because he was more amused than annoyed. "You play Ice Princess with Blink, too? Or are ya just tryin' ta sabotage my one chance at winnin' ya over?"

Kathryn took her napkin and shook it out, setting it across her lap before refolding her hands.
"A lady is supposed to exhibit certain manners at the dinner table," she replied simply.

He watched her from over the top of the menu. She was damn cute when she was acting all prissy that way. He was in trouble, and he knew it. |

Kathryn studied the menu curiously, examining each item and trying to decide which one sounded the best. She was tempted to order 'just a salad' because she knew that really annoyed the male species. But she was far too hungry, and that lasagna sounded far too delicious.
"How was the rest of your day, Tyler?" she asked, not breaking her air of politeness.

He took a drink of water before answering. "Alright. Thought aout you, mostly." He watched her, curiousand intrigued. He had no doubt she could keep up this act all night if he let her. He wasn't planning on letting her.

The waiter came round and they both placed their orders -- lasagna for her, ravioli for him. Once the water had taken their menus and left, Tyler had nothing left to hide behind, so had no choice but to look at her straight on.
"So, why are ya so convinced not ta like me, Kat?" He liked the idea of calling her 'Kat.' It somehow suited her.
