Tag stood anxiously at Grand Central Station, checking the time table every five seconds to make sure his train was still on time. Specs had gone back to California to see his family (and hopefully persuade them to move to New York); he had been gone for almost three months, and they had been the longest three months of Tag's life.
It had been almost two years since she'd left the Lodging House, and over four years since she had fallen in love with that shy newsboy with the glasses. A lot had changed in those two years, but even more had changed in the last few weeks. Anyone who knew Tag from the Lodging House would hardly recognize her now; she was wearing a fairly fancy dress, her hair was up in a simple but elegant coiffure, and she was even wearing white lace gloves. Having money was such a new thing for her, but she quite loved this change of wardrobe.
As a train pulled into the station and the people onboard started clambering off, Tag stood on her toes and searched for that familiar bowler hat in the sea of people.

((This is so adorable! <3))
Specs couldn't wait to see Tag again. He loved his family and missed them with all his heart but he was itching to have Tag next to him. Once the train pulled to a stop, he immediately reached for his bags and stepped out of the train. His eyes scanned the area for Tag before he finally spotted her between the waves of people making their way out of the train.
His face broke into a smile as he waved at her with his free hand. "Lillian!"

Tag smiled wider than she had in a while, even letting out a small squeal of excitement. She ran as fast as she could through the huge crowd, her eyes never leaving Specs. Once she reached him, she flung herself into his arms, hugging his neck tightly.

"I missed you too," he laughed, dropping his bags to the floor as he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly.

Tag pulled back only enough to kiss him, her arms still wrapped around his neck. "Don't ever leave for that long again," she told him in-between kisses. Three months ago, she had cried tears of sadness when she saw him off in this very station. Now, she was crying tears of joy at finally seeing him again. Letters, although long and loving, just weren't enough to keep her company.

"I know," he smiled, kissing her in return. "But now I'm here! And you get to spend as much time with me as you can, right?"

"Mmhmm," Tag nodded, shooting him a very watery smile. She sniffed, pulling herself together, before kissing him one last time (because she can).
"There have been a few changes since I last wrote you," she informed him, tugging on her lace glove. She hadn't even been dressed this nicely when he last saw her.

"Everything alright?" he asked, offering her his arm as he held his bags with the other hand. "No one's giving you trouble, right?"

Tag couldn't help but roll her eyes; each of his letters had expressed concern about anyone who might be 'giving her trouble.'
"No, my love," she answered with a small chuckle. "Quite the opposite, in fact."
She pulled on his arm as he started to head toward the small apartment she shared with two girls from the alterations shop. "Change number one, I don't live with Tess and Julia anymore." She began leading him in a slightly different direction, already excited to show him.

"You're living by yourself?" said Specs in awe, actually quite surprised her news. He was always careful to visit her, especially since she was living with two other girls.
"Hold on, you said number one? There's more?"

"Just wait!" She couldn't keep a smile off her face, though, as she led him to the shop.
"I live here now, up above the shop." Tag turned toward him, her face practically glowing. "Margaret decided to retire and left me the shop, the business, her old place... Everything."

"Margaret? Wait, so you own the place? Everything?" said Specs, stopping in his tracks and looking at Lillian with surprise.

Tag nodded vigorously, her smile still wide and bright. "Come up, I want to show you!"
She took his bag and his hand, leading him up the small staircase that led to her new place. It was a two-story apartment that was simply but elegantly decorated. It had felt far too big for her alone; now she just needed a way to slip in the idea of getting married...

"Alright," laughed Specs as he followed her towards her new apartment.
"Lillian, this place is... wonderful," he said as he walked inside, amazed at his girlfriend's luck. "And you have it all to yourself?"

"Yes!" she replied, setting his back down by the sofa in the living room. "All by myself. Gets quite lonely sometimes, actually..."
