Even Macbeth had her limits; she wasn't about to say something nasty about someone's dead family. She changed the subject instead. "So where the hell are you headed, anyway?" They still seemed to be taking all the same turns.

Without knowing it, Tag had followed Macbeth. How embarrassing.
"Er...I was meant to set out for the Lodging House..."

Macbeth smirked. "Well, I'm getting food." She eyed Tag thoughtfully, wondering how much of a pushover this girl might prove to be. "Could get you a Tibby's discount, I s'pose--if you'll help with Jo."

Tag shrugged after a couple silent seconds, a small smile appearing at the corners of her lips. "Sure," she replied, her voice soft. She loved little kids!

"Great!" said Macbeth evilly; for once, she wouldn't have to deal with mashed-up fruit flying in every direction. "Don't drop her," she added, eyes narrowed, as they approached Tibby's.

"I...won't?" Tag replied. That was quite a strange thing for her to say. Not 'don't let her wander off?' or 'don't let her make too much noise?' But, still. Tag would surely not drop her.

"Good," Macbeth said as they walked into the restaurant. She approached the waiter on duty and muttered something, motioning at Tag; he nodded, granting her the discount, and waved them toward a booth. Beth tried not to look too evil as she handed Jo over to Tag; the kid was already squirming and waving her arms around, and the food hadn't even arrived yet.

Tag tucked her book under her arm as she took the girl, settling her on her hip. "Hello, Jo," she said softly, with a small smile.

"HI!" said Jo, hitting the menus and knocking them off the table. Beth picked them up, opening and scanning one to hide her smirk. "Foooot!" Jo announced, turning around to look at Tag and pat her on the cheek as if they were sharing a special secret.
A waiter came over to take their orders. Macbeth asked for two hot dogs, water, and a fruit cup.

Tag took Jo's hand in hers so she would stop patting her cheek. It was starting to get numb.
"Uh, cole slaw, please? And a coke?" she said to the waiter, dodging Jo's attempt to get hold of her nose again.

The waiter nodded and went off with their orders. Beth replaced the menu with the Gothic novel she'd picked up at the library. Jo flailed about like a miniature windmill. Awkward silence ensued.

Tag tried her best to hold down Jo's arms, but it just wasn't happening. She managed to for a bit and was able to get her attention.
"Jo, we're going to play a game, okay? We're going to see who can be the best statue, which means you have to sit absolutely still. And the first person to move loses. Okay?"
