Rose curled up on the sofa, her favorite blanket spread over her lap as she devoured yet another book about Nazi Germany. As she turned the page, she caught a glimpse through the window of a few snowflakes starting to fall. She snuggled under the blanket even more, glad she had decided to light a fire in the nearby fireplace only a few minutes ago.
She had decided to come to her family's mountain cabin for a long weekend, to get away from the stress of work and get some reading done. She had invited some of her friends, but only Tyler, her oldest and best friend, was able to come. He better get there soon or else he'd be stuck in the snow for who knows how long.

Tyler had had a rough time driving to the cabin, glad he had four-wheel drive. When he'd hard he was the only one going with Rose to the cabin for the weekend, he was filled with anxiety.
He'd been in love with her for as long as he could remember, and she didn't have a clue.
He burst through the front door with a shiver just as the snow began to really come down.

Rose squealed as she felt the burst of cold air rush through the door as Tyler opened it. "Hurry up, close it!"

He did, taking off his coat and hanging it up, settling his duffel bag down. "Hey, Sugar. Brr, it's cold out there!" He kicked off his boots, then moved over to the couch. "Whatcha' readin'?"
((Hey gotta finish getting ready for work, and then drive, but I'll be back asap))

Rose held up the book so he could see the cover and title ("The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"), continuing to read. "I know you're surprised," she said monotonously, her eyes never leaving the page.
((Okay! Drive safely, dear!))

Tyler snorted, flopping down onto the couch and propping his feet up on the coffee table. "So, is that the plan, then? Read all weekend?" And ignore the fact that I wanna make out with you in the shower?

Rose pursed her lips in thought, her forehead wrinkled.
"...Yeah, pretty much."

He arched a brow at her, then sighed, the corner of his mouth turning down just a little. "Good thing I brought my laptop, then, huh. This place better have wireless, is all I'm sayin'."

Rose kicked his thigh, though she really more nudged it seeing as her foot still covered by the blanket. "You are such a party pooper! Can you really not spend a weekend just relaxing, without modern technology?"

He smirked. "Honey, if ya went a day without your phone, you'd keel over and die. Besides, yer gonna be ignoring me anyway."

Rose put down her book, a very offended expression on her face. "I would not! And I will not, come on." She nudged him again with her foot.

He laughed, grabbing hold of her foot, tickling it a minute before actually rubbing it, massaging. "So yer not gonna bury yourself in that damn book and forget all about me?"

Rose set her book down, stretching out her legs so her feet rested in his lap. "No, I won't forget about you entirely. And it's a really good book, for your information."

"Your obsessed, Rosie." He smirked at her, massaging her feet. "I can't figure out why a piece of history from sixty years ago is more interesting to you than right now."

"And I can't figure out why you don't find the fact that basically a whole population was brainwashed by one man with a weird looking mustache who pretty much single-handedly started a World War to be in the least bit fascinating." She sighed, shaking her head at him. He just didn't understand!
