Macbeth had opened at Tibby's today for the first time. That meant she'd had a few blessed minutes to herself, straightening up the kitchen and setting out the necessary tools to prepare a day's worth of coleslaw, knockwurst, sauerkraut, peach pie, roast beef, pork and beans, borsch, salads, and coffee.
Speaking of coffee, she hadn't had her tea this morning, pushing her temper even closer to the edge of eruption than usual. Which was why she was now snarling death threats at the first coworker unlucky enough to join her in the kitchen. Beth couldn't even remember the guy's name or what he had said to annoy her, but he was glaring at her and clutching the meat cleaver in a white-knuckle grip, and she was starting to wonder if Ershey would arrive before this got ugly.

"Morning!" shouted Ershey as she entered through the back door. She immediately stopped in her tracks, however, when she noticed Macbeth's infamous death glare. She bit back a smirk and glanced over at Sean, who was staring right back at Macbeth.
"...What happened? Should I even ask?"

Sean spun around and glared at Ershey. "Miss Rowlands here don't like my whistling! 'Scuse me for waking up in a good mood!"
Oh, right, that's what he did. "I don't drag myself over here at this hour of the morning to listen to your goddamn Irish ditties," Beth growled.
"Oh, so now you've got somethin' against the Irish, huh?"
"Yes!" Macbeth growled just to be irritating (never mind that she'd named her beloved niece after a girl so Irish that everyone called her Irish).
"Well, to hell with you, then!" Sean bellowed, taking a step closer to her.
"I'll see you there!" Beth replied, fists up and ready.

"Whoa, whoa, let's just... calm down," interrupted Ershey, stepping in between the two of them. Tibby's wasn't even open and the kitchen was already full of drama. Oh, boy.
"Sean, Beth here just needs her tea," she explained, glancing over at the kettle. "So I highly suggest you start boiling water. And Beth..." Ershey now turned to her friend and shot her a look. "Really? Already?"

Sean looked ready to argue for a moment, then remembered how much he needed this job, rolled his eyes, and went to fill the kettle up.
Macbeth gave Ershey a half-annoyed, half-guilty glance, grabbed a sharp knife, and started chopping vegetables like they were the necks of her enemies. "Don't tell me you didn't see this coming."

"I did," she chuckled, grabbing the apron and putting it on herself. "But I didn't think it'd be the first thing that'll happen this morning! I was willing to give you a couple hours."

"You're too generous," Beth said with a smirk, and added through gritted teeth, "Quick, catch me up on your life 'fore I run outta vegetables and go after what's-his-name."

"Alec told me everything," replied Ershey quietly, glancing over at Macbeth to see her reaction.
((Gotta run! Be back soon! <3))

Beth squirmed a little and slowed her chopping to a normal pace. "I know," she said after a second. "Sorry I didn't tell you. I meant to, y'know. I was gonna tell you everything and then maybe kill him, but then everything with Jo happened, and, well..." Before she knew it, she'd owed Risk a favor or two. "So, uh...how're you handling it?"
((See ya soon! <3))

Ershey shrugged. She hadn't really thought about it much since he'd told her. She refused to worry about it too much and let Alec do this thing. That's how she always dealt with it.
"He sounds... sincere about it," she finally answered, sighing. "At least he's trying... I mean, it's good to know he's not doing anything illegal. If someone told me years ago that he'd end up as as cop, I would've laughed in their face. But, uh, thanks for looking out, Beth. You attempting to kill him means a lot to me."

"You can always count on me for that," Macbeth assured her evilly. She finished with the veggies and put some water on to heat for borsch. Not exactly a breakfast food, but homesick Eastern Europeans always ordered it on their way to work. Sean came over and slammed a cup of tea down beside her, and she grabbed it and drank deeply, an expression of rapturous relief on her face. One thing she had to say for the Irish, they could make a good strong cup.
"So, Ershey, uh..." She cleared her throat. "About Risk..."

Ershey raised an eyebrow, rinsing the knife and drying it with a nearby towel. "...What about him?"

"Does he...you don't think he..." Beth was turning pinker by the second. She cleared her throat and concentrated on putting on a pot of coffee. "He don't, uh, like me or something, right?"

Ershey's eyes went wide as she listened to Macbeth's question. She stared at her for a couple seconds then grinned widely before rushing over to her side and linking arms with her.
"Why? 'Cause you like him?" she teased, completely amused at seeing Macbeth this way, even if it was about her brother.

"No! 'Cause it'd be a complete disaster and I'd have to...I dunno, talk some sense into him or something." She scowled at Ershey's excitement and obvious amusement. "'Sides, I'm sure it ain't true. Just some kinda drunk misunderstanding."
