Macbeth raised an eyebrow. "You are not gonna turn my niece into an undercover cop. Speaking of which..." She threw a cautious glance at the doorway. "...how's that coming?"

"I'm about halfway..." he replied grimly. "Almost there. Goblin already did his part, so it's up to me."
"Don't tell me you're doing something illegal again," said Ershey, shooting him a look.
"Adri, I've done too many illegal things already... I'll live. But I don't think you or Mush would if you both ended up in jail."

"You sure we can't just pin it on Tristan?" Beth asked with a wistful sigh. She fed Jo the last of the pudding and dabbed her face clean with the napkin. "So what are you gonna do once the case is wrapped up?"

"I don't know, maybe go back..." he answered hesitantly, recalling his previous conversation with Macbeth. He glanced nervously at Ershey, wondering what she was thinking.
"Go back where?" she asked curiously.
"To work," he shrugged. "How it was before I came here."

"Where were you even living before you came here?" Macbeth asked with a frown, realizing she'd never really thought about it. She turned Jo around to face outward, wrapping her arms around the little girl's waist. Jo snuggled against her. She was being quite the angel today.

Ershey looked at Risk, watching him closely. She hadn't even thought to consider how his life was like before here and it didn't dawn on her until now.
"Small apartment... the bunkrooms here are actually bigger," he muttered, reaching for a cookie.

"Yeah, but at least there ain't twenty people in it." Every angry, anti-social bone in Macbeth's body longed for an apartment of her own. Jo reached for a cookie too, but Beth grabbed her hand. "Not after the pudding, jan." When Jo's eyes started turning liquidy, Beth turned her to face away from the cookies to play the nose game for a while. It never failed.

"It's better than living by myself," he answered simply. "At least you guys are more fun."
"Fun? We're just getting you into more trouble everyday," said Ershey in a surprisingly sincere tone towards her brother. "I'm not too sure if we're good for you."

"She's right," Beth informed him. "Get out while you still can." She played with Jo's hair, winding it into braids without looking at him. "I wouldn't wanna live alone either, though."

"Well, what if..." started Risk, then immediately stopped himself once he realized what he was about to say. "What if what?" asked Ershey, looking at him curiously. ((Oooh, I have an idea for angry!Ersh ))

((YAY! ;D))
Macbeth looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, silently echoing Ershey's question while she started on another braid. Jo looked at him too, with giant blue eyes that almost seemed to be expecting an answer.

((I love Jo, btw I shall PM you!)) "What if... we switched?" said Risk, looking at Macbeth. "You can stay at my place... and I'll stay here. Y'know, so you can take care of Jo. I mean, I'll drop in once in a while but... it's easier to take care of her there." "...Alec," said Ershey with worried eyes. "Are you sure about that?"

Beth stared at him like he had grown six extra heads. "You...wanna give me your apartment?"

As worried as Ershey was, she couldn't help but bite back a smile. Yup. She was sure that Risk likes Macbeth.
"Not give it to you, geez! Just... lend it," he answered defensively. "Uh, for now."

"Uh. Well." She shifted and squirmed, completely taken aback by an offer that she could not possibly respond to with any form of snark or obscenity. "I, uh...where is it? How much is the rent?" she asked briskly.
