Risk smiled, quite proud at how honest Macbeth was. "Good answer," he smiled, crossing his arms and looking at her.

She finally looked at him again and smiled slowly, sipping the last of her tea. "You know if you'd made fun'a me at that moment, you would've been dead, right?"
He might not know it, but he'd just crossed a major boundary with her, peeling back a layer of the Macbeth onion that very few people ever saw. She was a bloody idealist. It was kind of humiliating. And once people really understood that, they could never look at her quite the same.

"I think I know you well enough by now when to not say something," he smiled right back at her. "I'd rather not get my head bitten off the first time we're living together."

"The real secret to that?" She drained her cup. "Keep making me tea." She smirked and got up to scoop Jo off the floor. "It's past your bedtime, jan. Don't worry about the beetle. He'll find his way to the park and start a beetle fam'ly."

"Remind me to buy you more tea next time," chuckled Risk as he followed closely behind.

Macbeth let him just hover there while she changed a very drowsy Jo into a nightgown and tucked her into bed. "'Night, love," she said, kissing her niece's cheek, then stepped back and looked at Risk kind of awkwardly. It wasn't their bedtime yet.

"She sleeps early," muttered Risk awkwardly as he headed back towards the kitchen. Their tea was still lukewarm and he didn't want to waste it... especially since it came from London and all.

"She's two," Macbeth reminded him, sitting at the table and pouring herself another cup of tea. "And now I have to think of a really embarrassing question for you."

Risk smirked. "What're your options?"

"I dunno, everyone's embarrassed by different things," she said, giving this serious consideration. Then she finally remembered something, and a slow smirk spread over her face. "Who did you almost have sex with on the bar that one time? And don't tell me you don't remember."

Risk frowned, unwilling to answer her right away. "You really wanna know that??"

"So much. The suspense is unbearable." Oh, she was getting him back for the personal questions, all right.

Risk cleared his throat and looked at her hesitantly. "Are you, uh, familiar with the Brooklyn newsies?"

She considered this. "Well, I punched Tristan in the face once, and then had dinner with his fam'ly a couple weeks later. Raven smacked me in the face once, but that was before I delivered her baby. Oh, and I met Spot Conlon before he ran off to Chicago, but I'm assuming you didn't almost have sex with him. So...yeah, you could say I've met a few."

Risk looked at Macbeth uneasily. He glanced at the ground then back up at her. She wouldn't think too much of it, would she? Besides, he was drunk -- and nothing counted when you're drunk. Or at least he thought so.
"It was, uh, Rae."
