Tyler had never been able to get the farm boy totally out of his system, so he worked for one of the horse breeders as a wrangler. Rose and Billy were his world. Which is why hearing the news on the radio earlier -- and that even at 33, he was still useful to the US Military -- made him more concerned than he cared to admit.
"Looks good, baby." He kissed his wife and settled down at the table.

Almost 12 years of the married, domestic life had turned Rose into a pretty damn good cook. Rose shot him a smile before digging in, stopping every once in a while to tell Billy that spoons are not catapults. But she still cheered every time a piece of chicken landed in Tyler's mouth. Her son was so talented.

Tyler sent Billy a wink. "Come on, we'd better finish or yer mama isn't gonna give us any a that cake I know is sittin' in the refrigerator." Billy of course went back to eating as properly as he could manage. Tyler reached a hand under the table to squeeze Rose's knee, where she sat next to him.

((That's for yer birthday tamarrowwww!!))
She set her hand atop his, rubbing her thumb over his knuckles. Once she was finished, she put her napkin on her plate and scooted her chair back. "Come on, baby, let's go get the cake ready while daddy does the dishes."

((Haha! YES! I HAD TO DO IT!))
Tyler snorted, but got up, gladly helping her out. She did so much, the least he could do was help with the dishes occasionally. He carried the dishes to the sink, soaking them in hot water and soap, rolling up his sleeves.

When Billy was settled back at the table, happily eating his chocolate cake, Rose came up behind Tyler and wrapped her arms around his middle. "You know I love it when you do dishes," she murmured, standing on her toes to rest her chin on his shoulders.

He smirked, over his shoulder at her. "That's just 'cause ya think it's sexy when I get all kinds of domestic."

She hummed her consent, placing her lips on his cheek and kissing him multiple times before she broke into a smile. "Okay, I won't distract you any more. There's cake waiting to be eaten."

He laughed and finished the dishes. He joined Rose and Billy for cake, then let Rose take Billy for his bath.
They both put Billy to bed, and he made sure he said his prayers and gave him a kiss. "Alright. Night, buddy."

Rose closed his door once she'd turned the lights off, turning to look at Tyler. There were already butterflies in her stomach, getting ready to hear whatever it was he needed to talk about.

He sighed, kissing her. "Come sit on the couch and kiss me a while, Sugar."

She nodded, a somewhat nervous expression settling in on her face. She headed downstairs and into the family room. She could hear the rain through the fireplace as she sat down on the couch.

Tyler, sat beside her, then tugged her onto his lap, kissing her. "I love ya, Rosie. Love ya as much as I ever have. Probably more."

"And why is that, hm?" she asked, her arms looped around his neck and her lips brushing his.

"'Cause yer my wife now," he kissed her, "and ya got my last name," he kissed her again, "and yer the mother of my son," he kissed her deeper, taking his time now.
