She was about to tell him that she was nearly finished with this chapter, but she put the book down instead. She tilted her head up to look at him, waiting.

He looked at her a minute, bringing his good hand up to brush hair from her forehead. Then he leaned down, pressing his lips to her gently.

It was like someone restarted the fire in Lillian's heart, but she hadn't even realized it had gone out. She kissed him back, gently sucking on his lower lip.

"Well! You've got a sling, and you're on pain medication! You really need some rest." She set the book down then propped herself up on her elbow to look at him better. "We couldn't do anything tonight, anyways... I'm not prepared and...I really want some chocolate right now." If he didn't understand what she meant, then he didn't know women at all.

Her hand trailed up and down his bare chest, fingers lightly brushing his skin. After a solid two minutes of the kiss, she pulled away, breathing heavily. "You probably should've slept on the couch," she said with a chuckle.
