He snorted. "I'm not an invalid." He finished his breakfast, letting her move the tray aside. "Come 'ere." He held his arm out to her.

"Yeah..." Lillian replied, her eyebrows raised. Then she looked up at him, eyes wide. She was trying not to remember the things he'd said to her before it happened, but they kept running through her mind. She knew he hadn't really meant them, though, and he surely didn't think that stuff about her now. But still... It wasn't easy to forget when the man you loved called you a liar and a heartless bitch.
