He didn't even look at the gorilla. "Uh huh." He only kind of heard her, more focused on the way her eyes sparkled and the shape of her face.

Zippy finished up her sketch of the gorilla, and looked at David. "Your turn." She handed him her pencil and sketch pad. "Show me what you got."

He blinked at her. "Uh, I'm not exactly the artsy type, Zippy." But he took it and drew a pretty adorable stick figure couple holding hands.

Zippy smiled. "It's beautiful, I'll keep it always," She joked, taking his hand and squeezing it. She took her sketchpad back and wandered to the spider monkeys.

He laughed, blushing. He stood close to her, so their shoulders were touching. "Glad you liked it."

"Do you want to stay in New York your whole life?" Zippy asked him, peeling her eyes away from the monkeys to look at him.

He shrugged, licking his bottom lip in thought. "I don't know. Never really thought about it. It might be nice to get away some day. What about you?"

"I'm tired of New York," was Zippy's response. She wanted out, it was too bad she had no where to go.

He was surprised by the force behind the words, and he turned to face her, looking at her. "What happened to you, Zippy?" He knew there was more to it than what she'd told him.

Zippy was caught off guard. She didn't want to play the victim. Not with David- his life seemed so perfect. He had a family that loved him, was smart enough to get a great job, and didn't have any crazy fiances wanting him dead.
She smiled a bit. "I'm actually the one that's trouble," She admitted, and smiled a little. "Giraffes? Now THEY are fantastic animals."

David sighed a little. He could tell she was hiding something, and didn't want to talk to him about it. "Yeah, giraffes are great." He gave her a bashful smile. "You're pretty great to, ya know."

"I'm nothing compared to a giraffe," Zippy replied, finally making it to the giraffe exhibit. "Giraffes have the biggest hearts in all the animal kingdom."

He smiled at her. "You know an awful lot about animals. That's nice." He put a hand on her back before he thought to stop himself, looking out at the giraffes.

"I like drawing them," Zippy explained, giggling as she watched a giraffe chew a leaf. "I used to go to the library and sketch animal books. I would read about them, too."

David grinned. "You got a cute laugh, you know that?" He looked over at her, his ears pink with embarrassment that he was being so open with her about what he was thinking.
