Fire saw Wraith lay the money on the table out of the corner of her eye and immediately reached into her pocket. "Thanks?" She replied, shocked.
Carefully, she stood up and stepped back from the table. "I'm not too sure. It's not too late. Maybe we could go for a walk?"

"N-no problem. I had a good selling day, so..." She let her babbling trail off and rose to her feet. "A walk sounds good to me."

"Oh.... Well... then, I owe you one," Fire remarked, reluctantly accepting Wraith's gesture of paying for her dinner. She flashed her a quick smile. "Next time!"
She slowly walked away from the table, heading for the exit. "Is there any place in particular you'd want to go?"

She started to shake her head, then got a thoughtful look on her face, followed by a rather embarrassed look. "There is one place...but you'll think I'm terribly strange."

Confused, Fire stopped briefly and looked over at Wraith with a curious smile on her face. "Oh, I doubt that," she assured her quickly. "Come on, you can tell me!" She stopped and, with a soft laugh, held up her right hand. "I promise I won't laugh or think you're strange."

Wraith bit her lip. "There's this, uh...graveyard on Fulton Street. Not that I know anyone who's buried there," she said quickly, then wondered if that made it even stranger. "It's just...it's really peaceful, and a lot of the gravestones have beautiful poems on them, and I kind of like to walk there sometimes." And she had just firmly established herself as a morbid freak.

Well, Fire had to admit to herself that she did find it a little strange and she did have a slight fear of cemeteries, but she had promised the other girl that she wasn't going to laugh at her suggestion.
She thought it over for a moment, before finally talking herself into going. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad! It's not like she would be alone or anything....
"Okay...." she agreed, her voice soft. "Let's go there." She gave Wraith her best confident smile before finally stepping outside the restaurant. Now, if only she could remain calm...

She did her best to return the smile, trying to ignore the fact that this was almost like a test. If her stealthy ways or her love of quiet, gloomy places were too peculiar for Fire's tastes, then the story of her checkered past...should she ever, way down the line, choose to start telling it...would definitely be too much.
She led the way down the street, matching her steps to Fire's so that they could walk side-by-side. Her eyes strayed thoughtfully to the clouds, which had gathered and darkened since they entered Tibby's. "Hope we don't get caught in a storm," she said...though she kind of had a thing for walking in the rain, too.

"Me too," Fire agreed softly, her hand swinging gently in time with their footsteps. "I'm having too much fun to want to end it because of the weather."
Her heart started to beat a little faster in her chest as the reality of where they were going started to settle in. What was she thinking, willingly going into a graveyard? She swallowed hard and tried her best to push her fears out of her mind. It's fine, she said to herself. You have nothing to worry about.
She quickly cleared her throat. "Do, umm, do you come here a lot," she asked, blushing as her swinging hand lightly brushed against Wraith's. "Oh.... sorry."

"That's okay," Wraith murmured, scooting over to walk just a shade closer to Fire, so that the accident was in more danger of repeating itself. "And yeah, I do...especially when things get kind of overwhelming. Most people in the lodging house will tell you that I have a tendency to disappear. Well, this is one of the places I disappear to," she admitted. Meaning it's a place I never tell anyone about. So why am I telling you?
They turned down Fulton Street, approaching the gate of the little churchyard. Wraith had never found it ominous, with its well-maintained grounds and many cheerful flower wreaths, but she realized that most people felt differently about such places.

"So, if you're ever not on the roof and I want to find you, you might be here? Is that what you're trying to tell me," Fire asked playfully. "I mean... not that I would come and search if you honestly wanted to be left alone," she added quickly.
Fire looked up at the gate they were about to walk through and took a deep breath. I can do this.... I WILL do this!

"Oh, if I really wanted to be alone, you'd never find me," Wraith assured her with a teasing smile. "But sometimes I only want...certain people to know where I am." She blushed, then noticed Fire's expression as she reached for the gate. "Are you okay? We don't have to do this. I know most people aren't too fond of graveyards."

"I'm fine," Fire assured her with a quick nod of her head. "Honestly, I can't remember the last time I've been to a place like this. We never did go together very well, but that doesn't mean I won't try this."
She shrugged and let out a nervous laugh. "Just... don't be surprised if I have to hold your hand or anything. I promise that I'm going to try my best."
Slowly, she followed the other girl inside.

Wraith gave Fire a reassuring smile and then moved quietly among the gravestones--reading the inscriptions, admiring the flowers and monuments, and thinking. About Sebastian, about Kennedy and Tara, about old ghosts and fresh starts and the impending rain. But all the while, she walked close to Fire...just in case she was serious about the "threat" to hold her hand.

Fire followed Wraith through the cemetery in silence, occasionally whispering a quick "I'm sorry" after accidentally stepping on what she thought was a person's grave. Well, this isn't SO bad...
She took another step and felt the ground squish a little more than before under her foot. She bit down on her lower lip and quickly stepped off of that piece of land. Quietly, she reached for Wraith's hand and gave it a small squeeze. "Sorry," she apologized quickly. "It wasn't so firm back there."
She laughed nervously, thankful for the fact that she didn't have an even worse reaction.
