Wraith's fingers closed quickly over Fire's hand. She liked the cool smoothness of her palm, the feeling of their fingers intertwined. And then she thought about how pathetic she was, taking a girl to a creepy place and then taking advantage of her fear to get a little hand-holding action. "No worries," she said aloud with a smile. "I promise I won't let you sink. Guess we should get home before the rain starts, though, or the whole place'll turn to mud."

"If that happened, then we'd really be in trouble!" Fire added with a laugh, finally feeling herself start to relax. She held onto Wraith's hand for a moment longer before reluctantly loosening her grip.
"Perhaps you're right though. Maybe we should head back." She sighed a little before carefully making her way back towards the gate. Did this night really have to end already?

Wraith followed her slowly with a pang of regret that she couldn't quite explain. It wasn't as if she'd really expected anything more. In fact, she was almost afraid to imagine that anything might happen between them; she'd gotten so used to people leaving her, hopes withering. Maybe that was why she felt so at home in cemeteries.
She paused by the gate, though, her eyes drawn by a big marble headstone for someone named Josephine Ann Cadler. She'd read the epitaph before, but it got to her every time.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.
"He must've meant it," she murmured almost to herself, pointing out the fresh flowers that covered the stone.

Fire looked down at where Wraith was pointing, immediately noticing the flowers. "I suppose he did," she agreed softly. She sighed and looked back up at the other girl, an almost-sad look in her eyes. "Don't you ever wish that maybe you could find love like that? It must be an incredible feeling..."
Her voice trailed off slowly and she let her shoulders shrug slightly. "Sometimes, I wonder if that's even ever possible."

Wraith thought of her own love life and of the other couples she'd known--her parents with their constant, bitter fights, her brother with his two disastrous girlfriends. Even Tristan, who had supposedly given up his whoring ways to be with Nevada, had recently kissed someone else if the rumor mill was true.
So it was pretty remarkable that she murmured, "I think it's possible," and unconsciously leaned closer to Fire...and closer...and then realized what she was doing and stopped, flustered and mortified.

Fire couldn't help but notice her heart beating faster in her chest when she realized that Wraith was slowly coming closer to her. She exhaled softly, her eyes closing as she let out that slow, shaky breath.
She waited -- and was met with nothing. She slowly opened her eyes, immediately noticing how mortified the other girl looked. "I'm... sorry?" she apologized, confused. Had she done something wrong? Why did Wraith stop?

"N-no, I'm sorry!" Wraith corrected, thoroughly confused now. "I...I mean...you probably d-didn't want me to...to...did you?" Oh, please, someone just kill me now. Just push me into an empty grave and bury me.

"Do what?" Fire asked in reply as her head tilted slightly to the side. She took a step closer to the other girl and gently took her hands, giving them a gentle squeeze.
She wasn't quite sure whether or not her increase in confidence was due to the fact that they were standing in almost complete darkness or because they were standing in a graveyard -- both of which decreased their chances of being seen.
She licked her lips slowly, her eyes locking with Wraith's. "Did you mean this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she leaned in the rest of the way. Her lips lightly brushed against the other girl's and she held them there for a moment before slowly and casually pulling back.

Wraith's eyes grew enormous for a moment as she tried to process what had just happened. The tingling in her lips, the surge of longing, the frustration as Fire pulled away. She didn't bother answering the question verbally. She just stood on tiptoe and kissed Fire deeply, caressing her neck with one hand, letting the other move to her waist and pull her close.

Obediently, Fire allowed Wraith to pull her closer, her hands carefully sliding up into her blonde hair. She eagerly continued the kiss, almost positive that Wraith could feel the way her heart was pounding in her chest.
Her hands slid deeper into Wraith's hair as their kiss deepened, her fingers twisting loosely around tiny sections of her blonde locks.

Wraith made a soft noise in her throat and slowed down just a little, just enough to let them both savor the moment. Her tongue gently teased its way past Fire's lips, exploring her mouth, while her hand moved from Fire's neck to stroke her gorgeous red hair away from her face. After a moment that felt pretty damn eternal, she pulled away slowly, took a breath, then leaned in and kissed her again, more softly now, knowing the moment couldn't last forever but unwilling to let in end...and a little bit afraid of what might happen when it did.

"Mmmm, Wraith," she whispered softly against the other girl's lips, a soft giggle escaping from the back of her throat. She hadn't expected this to happen at all, but she wasn't about to question it.
She felt a couple small raindrops fall upon her shoulders, causing her to reluctantly pull away from the kiss prematurely. "I guess that means it's time to go," she remarked sadly, her hands still lingering in the other girl's hair.

"I guess so," Wraith whispered, taking her hand, hating the idea of breaking contact. She smiled. "My real name's Clara, by the way. Clara Pearson."

"That's a pretty name," Fire replied with a smile, her hand practically tingling when Wraith took it in hers. "Mine is Felicia Williams." She blushed slightly. She hadn't told anyone else her real name since she told Nevada years ago.

"That's even prettier," Wraith said, her eyes bright and her smile positively radiant. And then the rain really started coming down. Wraith yelped and ducked in a vain attempt to avoid it, pulling Fire through the gate and down the street, yelling, "Sorry, sorry!" as if she should have prevented this somehow.
