Eli narrowed his eyes, but nodded anyway. "Yeah, Ma, we'll take care of it." He began to clear the table and brought them over to the sink. "My parents love you. You make the rest of us look terrible."

"Not true! I'm trying not to be anymore," Eli offered with a smile. "That's sort of how I got into this mess in the first place. I told you, I swim now." He reached for the soap and began wiping down the dishes Adri rinsed off.

"Well...I figured...I'd drive this semester," Eli said, looking at her. "I got the BMW now. My dad bought a new car."

Adri gasped, almost dropping the plate she was holding. "You have the BMW? Wow, this was really a huge summer for you..."

"It's just a car, Adri," Eli replied with a shrug. But hell yeah, he was.
The next morning, Eli woke up earlier than usual, and spent too much time in the bathroom, which resulted in a fight with his younger sister, Erin. Finally he was off. He sent Adri a text and pulled into her driveway.

Adri jumped as she heard her cellphone go off. She glanced at it, finished fixing her hair and grabbed her bag before heading out the door. She almost stopped in her tracks when she saw what was in front of her.
In his snazzy new car and makeover, he almost looked like a different person. She chuckled softly, amused. "Someone's lookin' good this morning," she smirked, opening the car door and getting inside.
