She was coming back today.
Eli stared at the clock in his bedroom, counting down the minutes. He was shaking, and turned on his TV to keep busy, but he was too nervous, too excited, too everything to sit still and wait.
Eli Green was waiting for his best friend to come home from being a camp counselor for two months at the same overnight camp she's been going to all her life. While his best friend- pretty, popular, and perfect- was gone, Eli spent the summer changing himself. He had gotten his braces off, gotten contacts, cut his shoulder length hair, and his acne cleared up. He had also grown at least 2 inches, and was working out and swimming twice a day. His brother, Eric, had helped him fix up his wardrobe, especially since he had lost nearly 30 lbs in fat, and had gained what he lost in muscle. Eli felt like a new person- and he hadn't told his neighbor a thing. He couldn't wait to see what she would say when she came home and saw the new him.
((I finished my finals today, and how do I celebrate? RP more! I haven't done modern in awhile and Eli is adorable. Open to any beautiful gal who wants some lovin'....if are you still confused after reading the post, guy and girl are neighbors and great friends, but she grew up to be beautiful and popular and him nerdy and kinda lame. he had a makeover over the summer bc he's in love with her and wants to be with her.))

Adri bounded up the steps of Eli's front porch. She smirked as she peered through the windows, trying to catch a glimpse of him. She hadn't heard from him since she left for camp a couple months ago and now she was itching to see her best friend and spend time with him.
"Eli!" she shouted loudly, having way too much fun as she opened the door and peeked inside. "Where are you???"

Eli nearly fell off his bed when he heard Adri's voice. SHE WAS EARLY. He rushed to the mirror, running his hand through his hair and trying to make it look messy the way his brother taught him to. It wasn't working, so instead Eli grabbed his comic books and Star Wars action figures and threw them in his closet, hiding them for now.
It was time for a new him. Even though he just got a new Spider-man, which he knew he would fish out to read later...
"Up here!" He called down at her, picking up a few spare clothes on the floor. He heard his mother greet Adri.

"Thanks, Auntie," smiled Adri as she gave Eli's mom a hug and proceeded upstairs. She couldn't wait to hang out in his room and do completely nothing. After months of dealing with little kids, she was craving to spend time with friends her own age. Then again, she and Eli weren't exactly the most mature out of everyone. Every joke and comment resulted in laughter, possibly them rolling on the floor.
"What're you doing?" she yelled, going up the steps and skipping down the hallway towards his room. "Are you naked or something?"

"No!" Eli replied immediately, trying to get a hold of himself. Satisfied that his room was clean enough, he opened his door, beaming at her, and then clearing his throat, trying to act cool. He gave her a nod.
"Hey."

Adri stared at him, her smile fading as she looked at him in confusion.
"Hey," she replied, clearing her throat. She left for a couple months and what happened to him? It was as if he'd completely changed. Then again, it was just his face. His suddenly now cute face. She just hoped his ego didn't inflate like most guys she knew.

Eli opened the door more, gesturing for her to come inside. "Uh, my room's changed a bit, I got a new futon...." This was more awkward than Eli expected. He should have told her that he was exercising now. And washing his face. And wore contacts...And completely wiped his room clean of any Star Wars posters and comic books.
After all, it was their senior year. It was time for him to grow up. He offered her a bag of M &M's.

"Thanks," she muttered awkwardly, taking the bag of M&M's as she sat down on his bed. She stayed quiet while she glanced around his room and at him, trying to take in everything that had changed.
"Uh, what happened?"

"Oh, well... Eric told me I'll never get laid in high school if I didn't take down my posters," Eli joked, taking a seat next to her and telling himself he had to play it cool. He had to. "I just got fed up with it, so I finally rearranged some stuff around. I'm finally used to it. So...tell me everything! How were your campers? Did they place you in arts and crafts again?" Eli smiled at her. She actually looked great, finally finding the courage to look at her.
He also wanted to ask her if she had any summer romance, but decided against that.

Adri raised an eyebrow at him once he brought up getting laid. Then again, she knew him well enough that she was joking. Hopefully.
She shrugged, tearing open the bag of M&M's and popping a couple in her mouth. "They always do," she smirked, finally relaxing. Thank God for chocolate. "You know that I make a mean friendship bracelet."

"I thought you were gonna convince them to let you do something outside this year," Eli replied, about to reach for an M&M and then reminding himself he no longer ate sweets. No sugar, and no fat. His diet sucked now, but he was too damn close to a 6 pack to give up now.

"I was just about to get there. You can be so impatient, Eli, geez," she teased, smirking at him as she offered the bag of M&M's. "I got to teach swimming this year! I'm sure I burned away one layer of my skin this summer."
She glanced over at him, taking in how much he'd changed. He looked so much more... handsome. Well, not that he wasn't before, but she was sure that all the girls would be clamoring over him this coming senior year. The boys would take him in as part of the popular group and everyone would know him. She wasn't too sure how she felt about that.

"No way! You look fantastic." Eli responded immediately, trying hard not to blush. "I swam a lot, too. Laps. Eric got me into it, I was thinking of joining the swim team this year."

"You changed a lot," she finally said, pointing out the obvious. "You meet a girl or something?" She secretly hoped not.

"No! Uh, no..." Eli replied, shrugging. "Braces finally came off, so I figured it was time to lose the glasses too. You think...it looks okay? I don't look weird do I?"
