"Ew, calc... oh, we have that together!" she said excitedly as she continued to look through his schedule. "AP English... and Study Hall. Hey, that's a good number of classes!"

Eli nodded, smiling to himself That was pretty great. He pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car. "I'm gonna head to my locker. I'll see you in calc then?"

"Just don't get mauled by the teenage girls," she smirked, telling him a quick bye before heading off and immediately finding her friends.

Eli knew she was kidding, and even though he knew it wouldn't actually happen, it did feel like he was getting more attention than ever before. When he was at his locker, Kelly Moss asked him for help to open up hers, and then she asked him about his summer. Kelly had never spoken to him before, let alone asked him how his summer was.
And in his first period class, Sally Miller struck up a conversation with him about their summer reading books, and also asked him about his summer. Then Leah Jackson, who was sitting nearby, wanted to hear all about his new exercise and diet, and ended up walking with him to calc, since she had it too.
While nervous at first, Eli quickly grew more comfortable talking to them. He walked into the calc classroom talked to Leah and her friend, Macy, about the new Batman movie coming out.

Adri was sitting with her friends in calc class already. She was occasionally checking the door, trying to see how Eli was doing during his first day after his makeover. Once she spotted him walk inside with two girls, she couldn't help but smirk. She waved over to him, wondering if he'd even notice.

Eli gave Adri a clueless smile, chuckling awkwardly. None of these girls gave a shit about him before, but maybe Adri had been right...

Adri motioned to the seat next to her, wondering if he'd wanted to escape from the girls. She tried her best to bite back her laughter -- he looked so awkward around them and he obviously didn't know what to do.

Eli mumbled something to the girls and took a seat next to Adri. "all this attention is...unrelated to...my weight loss." he muttered to her, but he was smiling.

Adri smiled and nodded. "Yeah, sure," she answered as she stood up and held her books. "Feeling good today, huh?" she teased. "You never asked to walk me to class before."

Eli blinked, surprised. "R-really?" he smiled to himself, feeling more confident already. It was also nice feeling confident enough to talk to Adri in public.
