Eli laughed, remembering how her playful punches used to hurt him. Now it felt like nothing against his new arm muscles. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay," she smiled, waving goodbye. The next couple days were a blur. Adri was amazed at how quickly Eli became known around school (both by the girls and boys). She was thankful that Eli still remained as her best friend despite all the changes.
Ready for the bonfire? she texted, actually quite excited to hang out with all her friends... And Eli. He was just a friend, of course. That's it.

((  )) Eli texted back with a 'yep, see ya in 5' and raced into his sisters room to make sure she approved of his outfit. "you look great," Erin said to him with a smile. "go get her." The last week had gone by as a blur. It was weird, suddenly being noticed. He used to be ignored (or even bullied) but now... And he was getting used to it. And fast. |

Grabbing her purse and an extra blanket (she was always cold somehow), Adri made her way towards the door, immediately spotting Eli's car. She smiled when she saw him, actually quite excited to see him again.
"No Batman t-shirt?" she teased, once she opened the door and climbed into her seat.

Eli laughed. "maybe next time," he shrugged and turned on the radio, heading to Luke's house. "Do you know where Lizzie lives? I looked it up but Ive never been in that part of town before."

"I'll let you know where to get once we get to Luke's," she answered, giving him a small smile. "So, uh, how's your first week? Everyone's been asking me about you."

"Yeah, I guess I do," Eli replied, grinning at her. Luke came outside and went into the backseat. Unlike Eli, he was wearing a Batman Tshirt.
"do you think there will be smores?" He asked them, buckling up.
Eli shrugged. "No idea. Ive never been to a party like this before either." He glanced at Adri. "You think there will be smores?"

"Yeah!" said Adri enthusiastically, then remembered how the bonfire went last year. "Uh, among other things..." She was more than sure that the boys would somehow sneak in some drinks.

Eli began to drive in the general direction of the bonfire, grinning to himself. He had a really good feeling about tonight.
"Man Adri, when was the last time we went to a party together? Joey Smith's in the 6th grade?"
