Eli eyed the two of them curiously, realizing just how serious that they must be if the kid was saying no to college to stay with his little sister. He didn't say anything, just put his usual grin on his face and reached for a straw.
"Hey Les, watch this!" He peeled off one end of the straw, stuck it in his mouth, and blew the rest of the paper wrapping at David, hitting him in the face.

Les laughed gleefully, trying the trick and doing the same thing, hitting David in the face.
"Hey!" David frowned. "Knock it off!"

Eli laughed, giving less a pat on the head. "Epic."
Zippy glanced at David, and wondered what he was so grouchy about. She handed him a straw, ripping off one end to get it started for him. "I think this calls for a retaliation."

David smirked and took the straw, blowing it hard and hitting Eli.

It got Eli in his eye.
"Ow." Eli said, giving Dave a hard look as he reached for his eye. "Good one, Dave" he added, sarcastically.
"Oh thank god the food is here," Zippy announced as the waitress brought all of them their burgers.

David only lifted his shoulder in a half-assed apology, getting his knife and cutting his burger in half.
Les dug into his food immediately, like a man starved.

Zippy brought her burger to her lips, biting into it and a huge pile of ketchup dripped out of it, into her lap.
Eli hollared in laughter at her. "Oh god, Erin, you haven't changed at all." Zippy groaned, and dapped at the stain with a napkin.

David shot Eli an annoyed look, then dipped his napkin into a glass of water, handing it to her. "Here, Zip."

"Alright, David, what is your problem?" Eli asked seriously, finally snapping. Zippy looked at Eli in horror, begging him with her eyes to shut up.

David pursed his lips, glaring at Eli. "My problem is that you think you can just waltz back into Zip's life like nothing ever happened. And you're jerk."

"David," Zippy said under her breath, as a warning. "Stop. Please. I love you both." She squeezed his thigh hard under the table.
Eli shook his head. "I'm trying here, Dave. It doesn't seem like you are making any effort at all."

"David!" Zippy gasped, shoving him. "Stop." She looked at Les. "Eli is a great brother, the second best in the whole wide world after David."
Eli kept his mouth shut, chewing on his burger, sending daggers at David with his eyes. The last thing he wanted to do was scare Les, although Dave deserved a good ass-whoopin'.

David scoffed, sliding out of the booth. Without a word, he threw his coat back on and stalked out of the restaurant.
