"I don't think I'm being too sweet," he denied with a small shrug of his shoulders. "I just think I'm being honest with my observations "I'm not gonna tell you something that I don't think is true."

"I know but you're really sweet Nate," she smiled at him and kissed his cheek.
Sean squealed as a giraffe came close to the wall of the cage, tongue licking its lips. He mimicked the motion.

Nate blushed slightly at that, a sizeable grin on his face. "Thanks, Rae... You're pretty sweet too."
He glanced over at Sean and laughed, carefully pulling him back from the cage before Rae could notice. "Don't lick the giraffe," he whispered to the boy, still trying his best not to laugh.

Sean grunted at him and curled his hands into little fists.
Raven smiled at Nate. She thought she might be able to get used to this. He was calm and kind and she could see that he was getting attached to Sean. But she knew that she didn't love him.
"You think we should get Seany some ice cream?" she whispered to Nate.

"If you think we should, yeah," Nate whispered in reply. "You're his mom, after all." He paused, smirking down at her. "I'm just the guy that makes animal faces with him." Maybe this whole idea of 'moving on' wasn't so bad, after all. Rae was sweet enough and had a cute son. Life with her was shaping up to be a lot like he had envisioned it would be with April. A kid, trips to the zoo, the whole nine yards. However, something about it still wasn't quite right... However, what it was exactly, he couldn't put his finger on.
Slowly, he backed away from the giraffe cage. "Come on, little man. Your mom and I got a surprise for you."

"You? You what?" Nate asked the boy playfully. "You don't even know the surprise yet!"
"Has he had it before?" He asked. He was sure that the boy had to have had it before... right??
((haha oh, I know! Well, not everyone was there when we discussed this at the museum in between the dinosaurs and the creepy conversation with the MJ-obsessed security guard. Jessica and I have been creeping on his FB nd, oooh boy, we found some gems!))

"Everything is special the first time," he joked as they exited the zoo and headed toward one of the park's exits. "Is there any special place you wanna take him, or just any place we find?"

Nate led them down the street and around the corner until they finally arrived at the ice cream shop. He opened the door for Rae, motioning for her to go inside first, "After you."
He balanced Sean carefully in his free arm, smiling down at the boy. "Almost time for your surprise!"
