Trixie didn't want to go back to MayBelle's. She didn't want to be tempted by the life all the girls led, and she wanted somewhere nobody knew her.
When she'd met Medda at Irving Hall, she hired Trixie right away to be one of her taxi dancers -- and Irving Hall was much more low-key than MayBelle's ever was.
She'd worn a dark blue dress that night, because it made her eyes pop...and because the bodice was just a little tighter than it should be.
One of the downsides to being a taxi dancer was that the men always wanted to buy the girls drinks, and Trixie had already had more than a couple.

Luke came into Irving Hall with a few guys after work, pretty exhausted but needing a drink after the day's events. Eli had needed to go home to check on Zippy- the girl had lost it, and he wanted to make sure she wasn't doing something crazy - but had promised to swing by later if all was well. Luke sat down at the bar, ordering himself a glass of scotch.

Trixie was letting some boring CPA talk to her, nodding along and looking around for better prospects when she caught sight of Luke at the bar.
She excused herself and went over to him, grinning. "Hey! Haven't seen ya since you were dyin' in bed."

It took Luke a moment to place Trixie, but grinned at her once he did. "Oh hello! Yeah, I'm feeling awfully better now. Physically, anyway."

She smiled at him, waggling her fingers at his friends. "Well, good. How ya been?"

"Been okay. Kinda a hectic few weeks, but things are settling down." sort of. He wasn't sure if Eli had told her about zippy's paranoia and he didn't wanna being it up. "how about you? Have you...always worked here?" luke was pretty sure Eli woulda mentioned that.

She shook her head. "Just started a couple days ago. Wanted some extra cash." She smiled at him prettily. "Don't worry, I won't charge ya if ya wanna dance with me."

He grinned at her. "I dunno about that, Hon, but I'll buy ya a drink. What would you like?" he signaled to the bar tender.

"White wine spritzer, thanks." She smiled, moving to sit on the stool beside him.

"Eli told me how he dragged ya down to Florida." he chuckled. "how'd ya feel about that?"

Her heart gave a little pang at the thought of her trip with Eli, but she only lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "It was fun. Nice to get away."
She wondered how much Eli told him about what happened on the trip.

Luke chuckled. "to be honest, I was shocked he got ya to go on one of those trains. It's a pretty miserable trip. He makes me travel with him all the time."

"Well, he sorta just sprung it on me. We rode coach on the way back, though." She smirked, sipping her drink when it was handed to her.

Luke nearly choked on his drink. "you are kidding! That cheap bastard bought an actual train ticket?!"

She laughed, tossing her hair back. "Oh, honey, please! I got us those tickets!" She smirked at him. "Gave the poor kid in the ticket booth a sob story about my sick brother."
