((Some people are odd like that!! Not me. Also just watched the trailer for The Avengers. We so need to see that!))
Rose filled him in on everything in about five minutes, not going into much detail. She'd gone to high school, college, graduated, now here she was. Then she told him about how she and Mike had met, when he'd proposed, and that they hadn't set a date yet. Mike preferred a long engagement, see, and Rose didn't mind.

((When's it come out??))
Tyler nodded along, listening. "I was never a big fan a' the long engagment. If I wanna marry ya, I don't wanna have to wait."

((May something. I think early on.))
"Well, what about you, then? Do you have a girlfriend?" How could he not? He was only the hottest man she'd ever seen...besides Michael, of course. Obviously. Duh. Yep...

((Hmm...))
He shook his head. "Had one back home, before I left. Nothin' serious. Didn't wanna do the long distance thing, so I ended it."

"If you find yourself looking, I'm sure I have plenty of friends who would be interested," she informed him with a chuckle. Before he could answer, she came up with a splendid idea.
"Hey, what are you doing this weekend?"

He arched a brow. "Uh, nothin'. There's a game on."

"My parents live on a ranch about an hour north of here...Would you like to go?" She smiled and raised her eyebrows expectantly. Rose absolutely loved going to her parent's ranch. She had a horse of her own out there, and she would spend hours a day riding and taking care of it.

He arched a brow. "Michael gonna be okay with that?"

"I'll ask him, too, of course," she told him, getting her phone out and sending him a text.

Oh, joy. "I--if ya want me to, Rosie. I'll go." He knew he shouldn't. He knew he should probably stay far, far away from Rose Howard. But he couldn't seem to convince his heart.

Straight away after sending the text to Michael, she sent one to her parents. "My folks'll be so glad to see you," she said, already getting excited.
Then she got a reply from Michael. "Aw, shoot. Mike can't come. He's too busy with work..."

Alarm bells were sounding in his head, and he wondered if Rosie was just too naive to understand. "He, uh, he's busy an awful lot."

Rose wasn't naive. She was just in denial. "It's a pretty big ad company, and he's their best art guy." She shrugged as if to say 'oh well, what can you do?'

"So, he works weekends? How, uh...how often?" Tyler knew Rose deserved better. Even he wasn't good enough for her. But he was better than Michael, that much was clear.

She shrugged again, wishing he would stop talking about Michael in that tone. "Depends on how much work he can't get done during the week. Anyways," she said quickly, checking the text from her mom. "Mom says she wishes you could come tonight, but she'll wait until Friday. Ha ha, very funny, mom." She said the last part under her breath, shaking her head in amusement.
