It all started when Rose and her family moved to a small town in Kentucky at the beginning of her sixth grade year. Their new next door neighbors had come over to greet them, along with some delicious 'Welcome to the Neighborhood' brownies and probably the hottest boy Rose had ever seen. His name was Tyler. But that was back when she hadn't a clue what to do with her mass of curls, she hadn't quite grown into her looks yet (though she was plenty tall already), and she still had no need to wear a bra. Not even a training one. Plus, she was more of a tomboy as opposed to the somewhat girly-girl she claims to be now. So, obviously, Tyler and Rose were the best of friends.
But Rose had a diary that year. She would write in it almost every day, and at the end of each entry, she would write "And I swear to you, I'll marry that Tyler McGowan one day. Just you watch. xoxo Rose."
But, like I said, that was many years ago. And the summer after their sixth grade year, not even a year after moving there, Rose moved away. That's what comes of being the daughter of a military man, you see. And Rose never saw Tyler again. These days, she barely even thought about him (that's a lie). She had a new, successful life in Nashville. Which is where we find her now; in a Nashville grocery store, perusing the cereal aisle, wondering which sugary treat she'd like to have for breakfast for the next couple weeks. Cap'n Crunch or Frosted Flakes?

Rose wasn't the only one who been thinking about that year when they were twelve. Rose had left quite an impact on Tyler, though he never said anything. Even after she moved away and he gone on to high school and then college, and dated his fair share of women, he always wondered what had ever become of Rose Howard.
He'd moved to Nashville for work after graduation, and was living in his own apartment. He hated grocery shopping, and missed his mother's cooking something awful. The fact that he was reaching for a box of Cap'n Crunch depressed him to no end. But there was a girl in his way, and he politely said, "Sorry, Sugar, 'scuse me."

"Oh, whoops! Sor -- " Rose stared at the man. Then, before she could stop herself, "Tyler McGowan?"

Tyler blinked down at the girl beside him, box in hand. "Yeah, how'd ya--wait a second..." There was something about the girl's face, her eyes...but it was the hair that did it. "Rose?? Rose Howard??"

A smile immediately came to her face, and she swore she could hear an angel chorus singing softly somewhere. "Yeah!"

((haha, she's so cute))
Tyler stared at her another ten second. Man, did she get hot. Then he broke into a grin and pulled her into a bear hug. "Holy, shit, Rosie! How are ya? What're ya doin' here?!"

She just laughed, dropping her shopping basket to wrap her arms around him. "I live here! I mean, obviously, but I went to Vanderbilt and just never left... What about you? Are you here on vacation or something?"

He shook his head. "Got a job with a talent managment company. Just moved her a couple months ago." He grinned. "Well, I'll be damned, Rose, it's been, what? Ten years?"

"At least...Wait, so you're telling me you left Kentucky? And moved to Tennessee? Who are you?" she quirked an eyebrow at him, though a smirk was very apparent on her lips.

He smirked. "I know, I know, I'm a traitor to my state, but hey. A job's a job, right?" He put his cereal in his cart. "You almost done here? Wanna meet up for dinner later? We can catch up."

Rose opened her mouth to speak, but she heard a "Hey, baby," from behind her and a hand come to rest on her back.
"Oh my gosh, Michael, this is one of my friends from way back when. Tyler McGowan, Michael Bennett. My fiancé." then, without realizing it, she tucked a curl behind her ear, flashing her engagement ring.

Tyler paused, his grin faltering. "Your--of course! Finace. Right." He plastered a grin back on his face, holding his hand out. "Nice to meet ya."

Michael shook his hand, smiling in return. "Nice to meet you, too, man," he replied.
"Um, Tyler just suggested going out to dinner. Would you like to join us?" she asked Michael, reaching up to fix his collar.
"Oh, man. I would, but I have a work thing...sorry, babe." He checked his phone, raising his eyebrows. Like he had somewhere else he'd rather be.

Tyler didn't like this guy's attitude. At all. "So, then I guess it'll just be me and you, huh, Rosie?"

"Sounds like it," she smiled before getting out her phone. "Here, give me your number and I'll text you mine, and we'll work something out for dinner?"
