Tyler grinned. "I always did think yer mom was a looker. Ya can tell her I said so, too."

Rose's heart did a quick somersault; everyone had always said how much she looked like her mom. But she was just being silly. She had Mike, and they were going to have their happily ever after. But she was certainly glad she had Tyler back in her life as a friend.
The rest of the meal went by too quickly; all of a sudden, it was almost Rose's bedtime. "So, I'll come pick you up at 5 on Friday, and we'll head up to the ranch. Sound good?"

He nodded. "Sounds like a plan. I'll text ya directions." He paid for the meal, waving off Rose's attempt to get her wallet, then offered his arm as they headed out to the parking lot. "I'm real glad I ran into ya, Sugar."

"Me too. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd see you in Nashville, but I'm glad you decided to move here," she said, chuckling, her hand resting in the crook of his arm. She led him to her car, then turned to hug him goodbye.

He pulled her into a tight bear hug, allowing himself to rub his nose into her hair a minute. "I'll see ya Friday, Sugar."

She bade him good-bye before getting into her car and driving off.
Come Friday at 5 o'clock, Rose was just pulling into Tyler's apartment complex, ready for the weekend.

Tyler was already downstairs waiting for her, suitcase in tow. He'd thrown on his old UK ballcap that went with his faded UK tshirt and jeans.

Rose hadn't bothered to change from her casual Friday clothes: a school t-shirt, some dark wash jeans, and some pink low-top Converse sneakers, her hair hanging over one shoulder in a braid.
"Mike said to say hi," she said as she opened the trunk, allowing him to put his things inside.

Oh. Mike. Way to ruin his excitement, there, Rose. But he only smiled, tossing his bag into the trunk before getting into the passenger seat. "He'll be missin' out this weekend."

"You bet he will," she replied, starting up the car and heading to the ranch. It was only an hour long drive, but Rose and Tyler still managed to have ridiculous amounts of fun. Rose especially laughed whenever Tyler tried to cheat at the alphabet game, like saying that the sign for Cracker Barrel counted as K, because there was one in the name.
They arrived just as Rose's mom was putting supper on the table. But she stopped to examine Tyler from head to toe, holding his chin in her hand and telling him just how handsome he'd become. Rose was blushing furiously.

((OMG, Cracker Barrell! I only get that when I visit my grandparents in KY!))
Tyler had enjoyed his time with Rose, finding her amusing and adorable. He scooped her mother into a hug as she examined him, twirling her around and calling her 'Mama.'

Rose took their luggage into their respective rooms, trying not to notice that everything about this felt right and natural and real. She joined them back in the kitchen and sat down at the table. "Enough with the schmoozing, let's just eat, okay?" Her father agreed heartily. ((I'm going to bed! Don't ask why I'm up this late because it's NOT because my sister was playing The Sims. And also my tummy hurts again ))

((Aw, boo tummy!!! Night!!! <333))
Tyler laughed, sitting beside Rose at the table, grinning over at her. "Thanks for havin' me, Mr. and Mrs. Howard. Really appreciate it."

"Well, now that you live in Nashville, you're welcome here anytime," Rose's mom said with a wink. Their dinner was quite similar to Rose and Tyler's dinner the other night. They stayed at the table long after their plates were empty, talking and joking and making Rose blush.
Finally, Rose's mother got up from the table. "Rosie, honey, why don't you give Tyler a tour of the house? You can show him the ranch tomorrow since it's too dark outside."

"That'd be nice. From the looks of it, ya got a beautiful home." He stood up, making a move to help clear the table.
