He grinned. "I might be stealin' yer Mama. She's closer than mine, and I missed home cookin'." He mounted the horse, petting its neck. "Hey, there, sweetheart."

"His name is Jefferson. Very calm, but I don't know how he feels about being called 'sweetheart'..." she teased, getting back on Belle, her Arabian. "Have you ridden much? You look good up there, very natural."

He laughed. "Sorry, habit. My uncle's gotta few back home. All of 'em are girls. I don't usually bother checkin' the plumbin'." He grinned at her, clicking his tongue to trot Jefferson alongside her.

Rose let out a small sigh, her braid swinging behind her as she rode. "Tried to get Michael on him when he came up here, but he's more of a spectator when it comes to riding, I guess." Which was one thing about him that made her sad.

He glanced over at her, carefully asking. "So, uh, what d'ya have in common, anyway?"

"Sense of humor," she began, though there were still times when he didn't laugh at her corny knock knock jokes. "It's really more one of those 'opposites attract' things." She led Tyler and Jefferson down to her favorite trail in the woods, maneuvering Belle easily through the trees.

Tyler followed along, chewing the inside of his lip in thought. "Guess so. Though, I never understood that. I always figured ya had to have more the same than different to really make it work."

He watched her, his mind working. "He seems like he ignores ya an awful lot."

Rather than snap at him, Rose kicked Belle into a faster speed, emerging into a clearing. "Race you!" she called out before urging her horse into a gallop.

He side but kicked Jefferson and set after her.

She raced Belle back toward the stables, laughing between breaths as she arrived first.

He was a close second, and he grinned at her, patting Jefferson's neck. "Good try, buddy."

"I'll say. Gave Belle and me quite a run for our money, huh, girl?" Then Rose's father appeared from the nearby garage.
"Hey, Tyler! You won't mind helping me move some of these boxes up to the attic, right?" Rose rolled her eyes. Just like her father to put a guest to work, especially if that guest was capable of heavy lifting.

He waved at him, dismounting. "Yessir, be right there!" He turned to Rose. "Can ya put them away, or should I help with that first?"
