Lana worked furiously in the kitchen, stirring bubbling substances inside of pots and sprinkling in just the right amount of spices. Her brother was gone for hours by now, hopefully working, but yet she was cooking anyway. The only difference was that, instead of the food being intended for her brother, it was intended for Leo. She was not sure when or if he has a chance to eat at the vet's office, but she wanted to do something for him in return for how kind he had been to her in the short time they had known each other.
She placed lids on each of the pots so they could simmer and, with a smile, she walked over to the table to sit take a brief rest.

((aww!!))
Leo came home from Dr. Levin's office in a better mood than usual. He had assisted in a surgery today, and saved a horse from lung failure. When he walked into the LH, Star was at the door, purring when he walked in.
"Afternoon, Starfish," Leo greeted, chuckling and picking her up, kissing the top of her head. If she was downstairs, that meant Lana was nearby as well.
"Smells great!" Leo said, sticking his head into the kitchen and grinning at Lana.

Lana looked up from her place at the table and smiled. "I thought you would be hungry," she explained as she slowly rose to her feet. She walked back over to the stove to check on the soup she had simmering on the stove. "Starfish has been waiting for you all day!"
((haha, she's means well, what can I say?"

"Starfish has, huh?" he glanced down at the kitty in his arms, and chuckled. "Well its a good thing I found her then, isn't it?" he offered Lana a teasing grin and sat down at the table.

"It's a very good thing," Lana laughed. She stirred the soup once more and put the lid back on. She walked back over to the table and sat back down in her chair. "I hope you are hungry." She laughed, blushing slightly. "I made more than I thought I did."

"I'll eat whatever you put in front of me, Lana," Leo told her with a chuckle.

"Well, then I better take Starfish away from you!" Lana joked with a quick laugh. "I made lapsha. It is like a soup, with mushrooms. I also made pelmeni. My brother loves my pelmeni. It is meat, peppers, and spices all wrapped in a dough. It is very good."

Leo laughed and handed her Starfish. "Sounds great." he took her hand and squeezed it. "Thank you. Then off to the park?"

"The park?" Lana asked, slightly surprised that Leo had remembered. A bright smile came across her face and, squeezing his hand, she nodded. "Yes, the park! If this were a warm day, I would pack this to eat it outside. We will go again then, yes?"

Leo chuckled, grinning at her. "Hopefully." he hoped they were still friendly come spring. "Do you need any help? With the food?"

"Well, I hope so," Lana said sweetly. Quickly, she shook her head. "Nyet. You sit, I cook. It is almost ready."

Leo nodded, feeling awkward. He had never been served like this before... He patted Starfish's head, scratching behind her ears as she purred. His hunches had been right, she was a terrific cat.

"She likes you," Lana observed with a smile. She got up, got two dishes out from the cabinet, and began to put the food on the plates. "I hope you like this," she said as she carried over the plates and set one down in front of him. "If you do not, I will not be upset."

"I like all kinds of food," Leo told her, picking up his spoon. Especially home made food. "I am not a picky eater. Not when I grew up starving." he joked, trying the soup. "yum. It's very good!"

"Thank you, Leo," Lana said, blushing as she finally began to eat. Other than cooking for her brother, she had never cooked for anybody else before. Her nerves, it was safe to say, were tightly twisted up in a jumble of knots at the idea of it.
