It had been 3 weeks since the breakup, and Eli was a mess. He thought he'd feel better after the whole thing, like a weight or something would be lifted off his shoulders, but really, he just missed Trixie.
A lot. A lot a lot, A LOT.
And Erin and Davey pretty much made it worse. He was ALWAYS there kissing up on her, and Erin was mad at him for 'cheating on Trixie'. BUT HE DIDN'T CHEAT ON HER. They HAD broken up..at least, in his head they were.
It took a lot of balls, but eventually Eli decided to find her. He went to practice for the play she was in, sitting down in one of the seats and watched rehearsal.

John Anderson had given her the lead, even if she felt completely out of her depth. But she'd worked hard, and Lottie had helped her learn her lines, since she couldn't hardly read her own script.
She was good. And the whole cast knew it. And so did John Anderson, who called her to him when the scene was down, giving her pointers, and brushing the back of his hand along her cheek as he did.

Eli smiled when she was up there. She was brilliant. And amazing.
And it...also looked liked she was fine. Already over him. Eli witnessed Anderson touching her.
Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he wasn't better off without her, she was just better off without him. Silently, Eli stood up, making his way back out the door.

The movement in the back of the room made her look up, and she saw him. Before she could stop herself, she hurried down the stage, going after him, catching him in the lobby. "Eli!"

She wanted to throw her arms around him. Or hit him. Maybe both. She'd missed him, her heart ached for him every day. But he'd hurt her. She'd had boys treat her bad before, that was nothing new. But when Eli did it...it was 100 times worse. Because he was supposed to be the one boy who never did.
"I--what are ya doin' here?"

Trixie looked down. "We had a fight, Eli. Neither of us said we were over. It was a fight. But even if we had broken up, it was the same damn night. And you went and slept with Josie. Like I didn't even matter at all."

"I didn't sleep with her! I passed out before we could..." Eli admitted, scratching his head. "I mean, I passed out so nothing could happen."

"No! It's true! It's why Josie was awake when apparently you rudely stormed in," Eli remarked, with a small laugh. Although he didnt remember her coming in at all. "She was trying to get me to wake up."
