"Well, I don't know that many girls, otherwise I would set you up," Rose offered. "I do work at Irving Hall, though so you could come any time and scope out some chicks."

He laughed and shook his head. "No thanks. They aren't worth the trouble." He paused, squinting over at her. "No offense, of course."

"None taken. Trust me," she replied, smirking. "Girls can be real bitches. Even me sometimes."

Pie gave her an amused look. "You said it, not me." He stretched his legs out. "I got plenty of time to find a girl. I'd rather just enjoy myself for now."

Rose just nodded, her brow furrowed slightly. "You've got a point," she admitted. "I guess it was just fate or destiny or whatever that decided I meet Tyler at 17."

"Dumb luck," he suggested, then grinned at her. "That's what always seems to direct my life, at least."

Rose just laughed, shaking her head a little. "Dumb luck, right," she murmured. "I think that has a lot to do with everything." Because she certainly didn't deserve Tyler, that was for sure.

Pie continued to smile at her, thinking that clearly that dumb luck wasn't only on Rose's side of her relationship -- this Whiskey must be a lucky guy. He folded his arms over his chest. "So you work at the Irving?"

"Yep. Bartending some, but other odd jobs, too," she explained, picking at some pieces of fluff on the couch.

"You any good?" he asked. "I'm always on the lookout for a good bartender, they're pretty hard to find around here."

"Ask Tyler," she said, her smirk now permanently plastered on her lips. "That's how we met."

"Or I'll just come by and see for myself," he said. "You'd better impress me, Curly-Bourbon."

She chuckled, shaking her head a little. "I'm not making any promises," she warned, smirking over at him. "But come by anytime. I work most evenings until 7 or 8."

"I'll keep that in mind." Pie finally got to his feet and crossed back over to his bags sitting by the door. "Should get this stuff upstairs. Hopefully they haven't given my bunk away yet."

Rose nodded, then glanced at the clock on the mantle. "Oh, I gotta get ready for work, anyway. Maybe you should come tonight?"
