Birdie grinned a little broader, biting her lip. After a moment, she glanced at his cigarette curiously. "Jack, could I have one of those?" she asked hesitantly, nodding at it.

"Uh yeah sure, I didn't know you smoked," He took one out of his pack and handed to her.

She took it and turned it around in her hand. "I don't," she admitted. "I've always been curious to try one, though." Birdie glanced back up at him and turned a bit pink. "Is that silly?"

He laughed, "Nah, go right ahead," he handed the small box of matches he kept in his pocket.

Birdie took the matches and settled back in her chair with an air of great concentration, Awkwardly, she struck a match, putting the flame to the tip of the cigarette and then tucking it into her mouth. With her first puff, she burst into coughing, nearly dropping the thing in her lap.

Birdie took the cigarette out of her mouth and stared at it incredulously. "Gracious," she said in wonder, then coughed again. "Is it supposed to do that?"
