Sammie stared at Coney Island from where she was standing. She'd heard about the place but never had the time or the imaginary balls to actually go. Besides, if any of Eastman's men found out she ran off to Coney Island, they'd just laugh their heads off. Then again, she wasn't working for Eastman anymore. She could do whatever she wanted.
She might as well go, she figured. It was something to do and she was bored. She secretly missed the days of going after thugs and threatening people. But, now, she just wanted to ride the ferris wheel.

Goblin wandered out of the lodging house, thinking with some amazement that he'd actually managed to keep his promise to Wraith all this time. He and Sammie had been in Brooklyn at least a month now, and they'd gotten involved in absolutely no drama. He'd made no elaborate schemes, caused no murders or abductions, untangled no massive gang/government conspiracies--he hadn't even broken anyone's heart lately.
And he was bored out of his mind.
The sight of Sammie near the docks made him smile, though. "Whatcha up to? People-watching again?"

Sammie smiled at Goblin, actually quite happy to see him. She hadn't made much friends at Brooklyn and kept mostly to herself for fear of stirring up trouble once again. She was cautious but now she wanted to do something. Anything.
"Sort of," she answered, glancing over at Coney Island. "You ever been there, Sebastian?"

He followed her gaze and frowned, sifting through old memories. "I think so. With Clara, a long time ago. Don't really remember it, though. Why?" he asked, looking at her with a teasing grin. "Got a craving for cotton candy?"

"What's that?" she asked, looking at him in confusion and innocence. She only heard about Coney Island but never actually went there. Her childhood was filled with guns and violence, causing her little brain to take in how to beat someone down in less than three strikes but had no idea what or where to get cotton candy.

He stared at her, completely incredulous. "You...don't know what cotton candy is?" He realized a second later that the question might be kind of tactless, all things considered. Well, he'd spent the whole month keeping his head down and avoiding everyone but Sammie, so his people-reading skills were a little rusty. And between that and the boredom... "Why don't we head over there and I'll buy you some?"

Sammie blinked, looking at him in surprise. "Really?" she smiled excitedly, sounding very unlike herself.

He half-smiled at her, thoroughly amused by her transformation. "Really. Don't tell me you haven't been dying to get out of here." They'd both been watching each other die to get out of here for weeks. "If we hurry, we might catch the next train. I'm assuming you've mastered the art of sneaking off without paying?"

Sammie shot him a look, reverting back to her old self. "Do you even have to ask?" she said, already heading towards train. "They wouldn't even see us!"

"Wraith's still stealthier than you," he said loyally--and also smirkingly--as he followed her down the street toward the nearby platform. He could already hear the train's distant whistle, and the sound began to draw him slowly out of the funk he'd been in. Sure, it was just a kids' amusement park, but at least they were going somewhere. It was an adventure. Who knew what might happen?

"You're just saying that 'cause she's your sister," she said knowingly, rolling her eyes at him. She eyed the platform, making sure that no one saw them as she blended along with a family that was boarding, as if she was just another kid. She grabbed Sebastian's wrist, determined not to lose him. She wasn't about to go to Coney Island by herself. And he promised her cotton candy.

He jumped and pulled his wrist out of her hand, then sighed. Someday, he was going to stop doing that. Someday.
"You two should have a contest sometime," he muttered, following her as she slipped through the crowd, observing her technique and deciding that Clara's was definitely smoother. Though Sammie certainly had her beaten in the scary department.

Sammie's brows furrowed when she felt him jump, causing her to immediately let go of his wrist. She almost forgot how touchy he got around people. Then again, she was too. She patiently followed the family, making sure that they were wedged in the crowd. Once she saw the ticketmaster leave their section on the train, she made a beeline for two seats in the back.
"You miss her, huh?" she said, sitting down and looking over at him.

He sat down across from her and nodded. "All the time," he admitted. "Wish she'd visit more. But she's got a gir....uh, a new friend, so...so you've never been on a rollercoaster or anything?" He really was a master of sudden subject changes.

((Hahah, I love him )) "Are those the ones that you ride and it goes up and down?" she asked, trying to recall what the other boys told her, immediately forgetting what they were just talking about.
