When Adri opened the door, Natalie was standing outside waiting.
"Eli? What's wrong?" she asked, pushing her way in and sitting down next to him and rubbing his back.
Eli didn't say anything. Natalie looked up at Adri. "who are you? What happened?"

"No one," she muttered, pushing her way towards the door. All she wanted to do was leave and avoid both Eli and Natalie as much as she could.

Eli didn't stop her.

Adri immediately walked out of the room, pushing past people until she bumped into Chris. She normally didn't play the damsel in distress card but she figured today would be an exception.
"Hey, uh, could you take me home?" she pleaded. "I promise you can come back to the party right after."

Chris of course agreed, and took Adri home.

During the next couple of days, Adri refused to contact Eli in any way. She started her new job and moved into the city, all without telling him. She secretly wondered how he was doing with Natalie but immediately pushed it out of her head.

Eli was busy with his new job too. He thought about Adri, and often wondered if he was too harsh on her. Natalie had only been visiting for a few days, but Eli broke it off for good. She lived in Cali anyway.
One night Eli was walking back from work. It was pretty late, and a Friday night, and he usually went out with his friends. But he was really craving a movie night in, and instead stopped at the video store to rent a movie.

Adri wanted a quiet night in, which caused her to crave a movie. Unfortunately, her cable still wasn't set up in her apartment and all she had was her laptop, hence, the video store. She walked inside, heading straight towards the new releases, completely unaware that Eli was not too far away.

Eli was in the mood for a drama and heard that the King's Speech was good. But of course there was only one left. And the one reaching for it Was Adri.
What were the odds!?
"Hey...."

Adri just grabbed the King's Speech DVD once she heard Eli's voice. She almost jumped out of her skin, completely caught off guard once she realized who it was. She simply looked at him and stared, unable to do anything else.
"Uh, hi..." she finally managed after a couple of seconds.

Eli frowned as he looked down at the DVD in her hands. "Figures.". He sighed loudly, glancing at her awkwardly.

"What?" she snapped, looking at what he was eyeing. She sighed, shoving the DVD at him. "Here. I'll go look for another one."

"No! Adri..." he chuckled, giving her an amused look. "Wanna just come over and we can watch it together?" he knew it wasn't the smartest thing for him to suggest, but seeing her in front of him...he wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet.

Adri was about ready to leave then stopped in her tracks when she heard what Eli said.
"But..." she started, a confused look on her face. "I thought you said you didn't want to be friends anymore...?" Oh, but she really wanted to watch King's Speech. Decisions, decisions.

"Yeah, maybe. But how can we not? This is ridiculous. It's fate that we are both here." Eli assured her. "and there's only one left."
