"Well, you don't have to worry. It's a paid internship, I'm not scrounging around for money or anything," he assured her, though he couldn't help but roll his eyes a bit.

"Ok, ok," sighed Adri, leaning back in her chair. "So how's your family? Grandma doing ok?"

Teddy's face fell. "Not so great, actually... Been in the hospital for a few weeks now." He hated having to tell her this; his grandma had raised him and had been close with Adri since they first started dating.

"What? Why? What happened?" asked Adri immediately as she frowned. She moved closer to the edge of her seat as if she was about to run off and see her right then and there.

"Heart problems, mainly. But a lot of little things, too," he told her, frowning. He didn't want to make Adri feel bad so quickly after reuniting with her, but she would be furious with him if he didn't tell her.

"Yeah," he nodded, the smallest of smiles forming on his lips.
"But, anyway, it's good to see you," he said earnestly. "What are you doing tonight? I'm going out with some of my work buddies. That nerdy guy will be there, but he always comes 'cause he wants to show off his girlfriend."
Teddy wanted to bring Adri, too, to show her off. She was gorgeous, and they may not be together anymore, but they were at one time. It still counted!

Adri couldn't help but smile. She loved spending time with Teddy even if it meant they were with a bigger group. "Sure! I didn't have much planned tonight, anyway. What are do you guys have planned?"

"Just hangin' out. We usually go to this bar, it's really casual and classy. No teenagers or anything," he smiled, leaning his elbows on the table as he looked at her.

"Nice! I like!" she smiled, excited for the rest of the night. "Are you sure they don't mind that I'm coming along?"

"No, they won't, I promise," he assured her before taking a gulp of his coffee. He was excited to introduce Adri to his friends, but he was also nervous a lot of them would try to steal her away. Not that she was his to steal, but...they were still friends.

"Good," she grinned, loving the idea of meeting new people. She only knew a handful of people when she came to New York and seeing a friendly face definitely helped the move a bit easier. She was glad to have Teddy to run to... of course, just in case.

After exchanging numbers and addresses, Teddy headed back to his apartment not only to clean up but to prepare for that evening. He let all his friends know he was bringing someone, but only told them it was and 'old friend  ' Of course they all knew who Adri was, so he kind of wanted it to be a surprise. Teddy showed up at Adri's door at half past eight, a bit more sharply dressed than earlier in the day. |

Adri took the rest of the day to prepare for her night out with Teddy and his friends. Sure, it was supposed to be 'chill' but Adri couldn't help but dress up a bit more nicely than usual since she was with Teddy. Plus, she wanted to make a good first impression... not that it mattered since they weren't dating anymore, of course.
"Ready?" smiled Adri, walking out the door and closing it behind her.
