The Art of Wooing (closed)

[Moonshine]

Moonshine had just finished selling his last paper. The spot he found in the park was a good one. Feeling restless, he decided on a lazy stroll through the park, fishing a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it up.

As he took a slow drag, he thought about the couple of weeks he'd spent in New York. He'd enjoyed it, mostly. Met some folks, but kept mostly to himself. Met a girl, he thought with a smirk, and boy, was she a piece of work.

[Kathryn]

Kathryn was at the hot dog vendor Blink had introduced her to last week. She hadn't seen him in a few days, but she hadn't been able to stop thinking about that handsome newsboy with the eye patch. A small smile came onto her lips as she watched Eddie make her a hot dog. She handed him a quarter as he handed her the hot dog, and she took a huge, delicious bite.

[Moonshine]

Moonshine spotted her down the way, amused to no end by the sight of Miss Society shoving a hot dog into her face. He sauntered over, a half-smirk, half-smile at his lips. "Well. Fancy meetin' you here, Sugar."

[Kathryn]

Kathryn froze at the sound of his voice and quickly swallowed the huge bite she had taken. She turned to face him, a smile plastered on her lips.

"Yes, very fancy."

[Moonshine]

He smirked at her, but sent a wink as he handed her a napkin. "So, what brings ya here? Just enjoyin' the weather?"

[Kathryn]

"Something like that..." she replied vaguely, dabbing at the corners of her mouth with the napkin. She was curious as to why he had approached her; the last time they'd seen each other, they'd shared a pretty lackluster kiss. It was good kiss, but it had done absolutely nothing for her, and she was sure not for him, either.

[Moonshine]

He watched her a minute, then, "Wanna walk with me?" If you'd have asked him, Moonshine wouldn't have been entirely sre why he had approached her, either. The kiss was...just okay. But there was something about the girl that...intrigued him.

[Kathryn]

"Sure," Kathryn replied a bit hesitantly. She walked slowly next to him, throwing her hot dog out in a trash can as they passed it.

[Moonshine]

He strolled beside her idly, glancing at her from time to time. "Haven't seen ya in a while. How ya been?" He sent her a charming smile. "Kinda missed havin' that snooty attitude of yers around."

[Kathryn]

Kathryn chuckled, rolling her eyes at him. "Just what every lady wants to hear. Remind me again why you don't have a girl to call your own?"

[Moonshine]

He laughed at that; truth be told, he appreciated her attitude. The high-maintanence ones were always more fun. "Well, now, Sugar, maybe it's cuz I'm savin' myself fer you."

[Kathryn]

Kathryn couldn't hold back a short bark of laughter. It was very un-lady like, but she couldn't help it.

"I, uh, don't think so."

((I'm off to bed!))

He smirked at her. "That so hard ta believe?" He lifted a shoulder. "Yer cute, ain't gona pretend like I think otherwise." He wasn't exactly sure if he should feel insulted by her response

[Kathryn]

"What I meant was...I think you're wasting your time if you're..." she cleared her throat, "...saving yourself for me." What did that even mean?

[Moonshine]

Moonshine laughed again before taking another drag, dangling his cigarette between his lips. "Sweetheart, all I mean is maybe I'd like ta take some time ta get ta know ya. That so much ta ask? Or you still pining over the kid with the patch?"
