The Art of Wooing (closed)

[Kathryn]

Kathryn decided to just be honest. She tilted her head upwards, instilling some pride in her expression, and spoke with confidence. "Yes, I am, actually. His name is Blink, by the way."

[Moonshine]

Moonshine snorted. "'Blink.' A' course it is." He offered her his cigarette. "What d'ya see in 'im, anyway? He's awful scrawny."

[Kathryn]

Kathryn shook her head at the cigarette, pursing her lips in disgust.

"I don't care about muscles, Mr. McGowan," she replied, actually kind of surprised she remembered his last name. "He's funny, he's honest, he's attractive..." and he's a magical kisser.

[Moonshine]

He flicked his eyes over at her, but tossed the cigarette. "Don't mean ta sound callous or nothin' but...he didn't seem all that interested in ya that night at the Hall."

[Kathryn]

"He doesn't like playing games," she told him, shooting him a defensive look. "I was being stupid, anyways, trying to make him jealous."

[Moonshine]

He lifted a shoulder in a slight shrug. "It woulda' worked on me." He glanced over at her. "Seein' ya kiss another guy, I mean. It woulda' made me jealous."

[Kathryn]

"Well, that's the difference between you and Blink, isn't it?"

[Moonshine]

He shrugged again. "Well, all I know is, if I got feelin's for a girl, no way can I see 'er on somebody else's arm without havin' some kinda reaction. Be kinda hard ta pretend like it ain't nothin'."

[Kathryn]

Kathryn just nodded slightly, not sure how to respond. She was sure Blink liked her; if he didn't why had he been pleading with her for months to go on a date with him (a.k.a. be in his harem). And didn't she hear that, at one time, his wildest dream was to spend a Saturday night with her? Of course he liked her. He was just different from the other boys.

[Moonshine]

He watched her for a few moments. He could practically see her wheels turning in thought. "Come 'ere. Sit with me." He took her arm gently, leading her over to a bench facing the pond. Once they were sitting, he angled himself towards her a little so he could see her face, arm draped comfortably over the back of the bench. "So, this Blink fella. You with 'im? Or just wanna be?"

[Kathryn]

Kathryn tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, looking down at her lap briefly before fixing her gaze on him. "It's nothing official or anything. I just like being around him," she replied.

[Moonshine]

He nodded at her a minute before saying, "Ya know. Jack told me about 'im. Said Blink wants a harem." He arched a brow at her. "Don't know 'bout you, Sugar, but that don't seem like the kinda man who knows how ta take care of a girl the way she oughta be taken care of."

[Kathryn]

"Yes, well, you would think that, wouldn't you?" she huffed at him, wondering why he was bringing all this up. "You just don't know him. He's very sweet."

[Moonshine]

"Never said he wasn't." He shrugged again, but kept his eyes on her. "I'm sure he's real nice. I just think a girl like you would want more...attention." He smirked a little. "Didn't really take ya for a gal who'd be willin' ta share."

[Kathryn]

"I'm not!" she shot back, her eyebrows lowered. "I really don't think Blink would actually form a harem. Especially if we ever got to the point where we decide to be mutually exclusive."
