Ershey was getting worried. She hadn't seen Risk or Macbeth the past couple of days. Jo had disappeared with the both of them as well. She knew they'd moved out and the last she'd heard of them was when Risk awkwardly asked Macbeth out on a date. Maybe they still weren't talking to each other? Maybe they made up? Maybe they had make out sex? Ershey frowned. Ew.
Taking the bill from the customer, Ershey was more than ready to close down for the night. She'd been working later than usual and all she wanted to do was go home. Glancing at the clock, she saw that she had a couple minutes to go. Time to clean up and head home.

The door opened, and Race poked his head in. "Hey, Ersh. Closing up for the night? Don't worry, I'm not gonna order anything--just passing by." He gave her a somewhat tired smile. He was on his way home from the tracks, having stayed through the very last race, and he couldn't have ordered anything if he'd wanted to; he couldn't even pay rent tonight.

"Yeah, I'm almost done here. Wanna wait a minute and I'll walk back with you?" said Ershey, putting the money away at the register before wiping her hands on her apron and looking around to make sure she'd put everything away.
"Alright, ready," she nodded, taking off her apron and shutting off the lights.

"Must feel good," he commented, lighting his last cigar and taking a puff. "Closing up for the day. How've you been, anyway? Been a while." He started back toward the lodging house.

Ershey shrugged, giving him a small smile. "Not bad. I just haven't seen Beth or Risk for a while... I'm starting to get worried," she answered, glancing behind her. She thought she'd heard something. Now, she was just being paranoid.

He frowned. Since Sapphy left, he hadn't really hung out with anyone but Rae; he immediately felt a twinge of guilt for letting his other friends drop off his radar. "That is kinda worrying, considering it's Beth and Risk. Didn't they get their own place?" He couldn't help smirking a little. Seriously, most ambiguous relationship ever.

"Yeah, they did," replied Ershey, laughing softly. "They're weird, but... they work in their own way. I just figured I shouldn't question it."
It was then that she felt a blade in her back. She froze in mid-step, unable to say anything except for glance over at Race.

Race stopped as soon as he realized she'd stopped, and turned around with a frown. "Ersh?" Then, in the darkness, he saw the outline of another shape standing right behind her. "What the--"

" Don't say a word," breathed Sammie into Ershey's ear, her switchblade ready to dig into her back if needed. "And just come with me." Ershey gulped, her eyes wide as she looked at Racetrack, hoping to hell that he'd understand what she was mentally telling him right now. Clenching her hand into a fist, she quickly turned around a threw punch, sending whoever it was down to the ground. ((Feel free to use more thugs! Wah, poor Ershey & Race ))

((I know! Also, this is literally Race's first fight ever. On the boards, that is.))
Race jumped back in alarm as some girl went sprawling to the ground. Before he could react, two men came running out of the shadows, one of them grabbing Ershey while the other punched Race in the jaw. Race automatically punched him back, going for the kidneys and doubling him over, then spun around to help Ershey--and froze. The second thug was holding a knife to her throat.
Racetrack couldn't even process that before the first thug recovered and grabbed him from behind, and then they were trading blows again. And it wasn't long before he was on the ground, everything was very fuzzy, and he was calling Ershey's name, not sure where she was anymore.

Risk was just heading out of the lodging house. He'd wanted to check up on Ershey and make sure she was okay but he had no luck. He walked down the steps of the porch and noticed a confused-looking Race not too far away. He frowned, making his way towards him and running once he saw that he was badly beat up.
"Hey, Race, what happened?" asked Risk, gently pulling him off of the ground.

Race blinked and looked around, his heart sinking as he saw no sign of Ershey. Also, a great many parts of his body were throbbing in pain, but that wasn't his primary concern. "Your sister's in trouble," he told Risk briskly, wiping blood from a cut over his eye. "We need to find her. Do you have any idea why a bunch of thugs would come after Ershey?"
If he'd thought this was the usual kind of assault--a mugging or a rape--he would have been horrified but not confused. Those cases, however, didn't usually involve a teenage girl as one of the assailants. Or very well-trained fighters. Or a victim who vanished into thin air.

"Thugs? Y-you said thugs? Where's Ershey? You were with her?" said Risk, his eyes wide with panic as he began to look around the street and the alleyways.
"Adri!" he yelled into the distance, running off and leaving Racetrack behind.

((Should Race run after him, or is he running to Macbeth? Poor Race never finds out anything anymore!))

((Hahaha, poor thing! Hmm, I think it's better that Race run after him... 'cause I just see Risk freaking out and constantly running.))
