"What was what?" Tara asked, bounding over with a drink in her hand. She'd been doing a bit of mingling, and a bit of eavesdropping, and then her father had seized her to demand what the hell was going on, to which Tara had innocently replied that these were all just "friends of a friend" and she'd had no idea there would be so many of them, but they seemed to be having a good time and what was the harm?

"They wanted to know how we ended up together," He couldn't help but smile like an idiot when he saw her. The look of her in pink just made him smile and she actually seemed to be enjoying herself which also made him smile. He was just...smiley.

"Nice to meet you!" Tara said happily, giving his hand a vigorous shake. "The pleasure's all mine!" At the sight of Jack's big, goofy smile, she had to smile back, her eyes twinkling a bit wickedly. "I think it's going pretty well, don't you, Jack?"
Somewhere in the room came the sound of something breaking, then her mother's horrified shriek. Tara's smile just widened.

Jack burst out laughing, "Oh yeah. Wait until the fights starts breaking out." He smirked and then wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him.

Tara checked out Zippy as discreetly as she possibly could and had to agree. She greeted her with her customary bow. "Tara Fields, and I'm glad you could make it!" She looked from David to Zippy and grinned. "Are you two a couple? You're all so romantic...newsies, I mean. Around here, you only know who the 'couples' are because their families have been marrying each other for generations." She rolled her eyes and then took Jack's hand, happily leaning against him. Speaking of which, I've still got an announcement to make.

He looked down at Tara and knew what she was thinking. Man, that was really going to put a damper on things. "Well we ain't got anybody telling us who we can and can't be with so we just do what we want." He smiled at her.
