David stood in a corner by the refreshment table a little awkwardly, looking out at the ball. It was the first public debut of his and Zippy's new relationship, and he was happy to be there.
But then Zippy had swished off to play the social butterfly, and David just wasn't very good at that.
So there he was, feeling awkward and a little out of place.

Jack emerged from a corner laughing .he headed toward the drink table. He paused when he saw david. "Hey. Davey."

Oh, geez. First Tristan and now Jack. David had the Worst. Luck. Ever.
"Uh, hey. Your, uh, your girl was awful nice to invite us..."

"She does crazy things like that, inviting newsies to her debutante ball. I think her parents are ready to throw themselves off the balcony." he smirked and drank a gulp of champagne.

He nodded, swallowing. "So, uh...how you been?" He was trying not to feel terribly awkward. He really had missed his friendship with Jack, and he wanted to try to get it back.

He nodded. "I really like her." He looked across the room, spotting Zippy, and smiled a little. "So, uh, how's your girl?"

"Tara? She's out of her mind half of the time, but she is just fun ya know? She likes to do crazy things and laugh." He smiled and then looked down in his glass. He cleared his throat. "So uh...everything else good with you?"
