"I'm not telling," smirked Risk evilly. "Ask Ershey for help. Isn't she good at those things?"

"I guess," Macbeth admitted, imagining how loudly Ershey would squeal when she made the request. A sudden knock on the door almost made her fall out of her seat. "I'll get it," she offered quickly, leaping up and running for the door.
She came back a few moments later with a box in her arms and a puzzled expression on her face. "Someone left this. The tag just says 'Open on Christmas.'"

Risk immediately went into stealth mode. "You didn't see anyone? Give that to me," he said, reaching for the box and making his way towards the door.

Beth gave him a look. "You do realize you're kinda paranoid, right? Maybe it's just Christmas presents." If any remnants of the Eastman Gang remained, she didn't think this was their style somehow.

"But who would give us presents?" said Risk as if it was the most extraordinary thing in the world. The last thing he wanted was a trap.

"We have friends!" Macbeth said, somewhat offended. "There's Ershey, and...and..." She stared down at the box, then noticed a folded slip of paper stuck under the ribbon. Pulling it out, she opened it and smirked triumphantly. "And the one person who'd write us a card that says Buon Natale, which, far as I can recall, means 'Merry Christian' in Italian."

"Race?" said Risk, his eyebrows raising. "I didn't know we had to give gifts..."

"I wouldn't worry," she said, setting the box on the table. "From what I know of Race, he won't expect nothing in return." She didn't understand it either, but that was the way Racetrack was when it came to people he considered friends.

"Can we open it?" said Risk excitedly, now that he was sure that it was from a friend. He'd have to buy Race a drink the next time he saw him.

"Well, it says to wait till Christmas," Beth mused, "but we ain't ever really been known for our obedience, have we?" She smirked and grabbed hold of a hunk of wrapping paper. "Shall we?"

"Yeah, open it!" nodded Risk, about ready to tear the wrapping paper off.

Macbeth needed no further encouragement. She tore off the paper and let out a very un-Macbeth-like squeal of delight. "Tea!" she announced, snatching up the tin of tea leaves and cradling it. It was Irish tea, which was probably a subtle joke on Race's part, but it looked delicious nonetheless. Also lying in the remains of the wrapping paper were a bottle of surprisingly high-quality wine and a giant box of crayons. "Can't imagine how we'll ever figure out what goes to who," she said with an amused grin.

Risk gasped, his eyes wide. "Wine!" he said, snatching it up much like how Macbeth grabbed her tea. He was going to buy Race two drinks. "Oh, and Jo will be happy with her new crayons!"

"The walls won't," Beth said grimly, but she couldn't help smiling. Like an idiot. She had free tea and crayons for her niece. She had friends--not many, but it was quality that mattered, right? And...she had a date.
"Let's set up the tree!" she suggested, setting down her tea, grabbing Risk's hand, and dragging him toward the kitchen to look for a big bowl.

((Awww, I love this hehe))
Risk chuckled, setting down the wine before he dragged her off even farther. Maybe they should gifts everyday. "With what? Oh, now you like the tree?" he teased, following her towards the kitchen and gladly holding her hand.
