Birdie peered over her shoulder at the pies. "Ooh, is that lemon?" she asked excitedly, then flushed with a sheepish smile. "Lemon's my favorite."

"We'll get that one, then," she chuckled, carefully slicing a piece for both of them. She smiled at the cook knowingly and grabbed two forks before heading out towards the actual sitting area with customers.

She scanned the main room. "Busy place," she remarked, moving toward one of the empty tables. Setting her violin case down, she slid into the empty booth beside it, biting her lip in anticipation. Pie!

"Here you go," smiled Ershey, pushing the plate towards her and giving her her fork.

Birdie took the fork and plate and immediately scooped up a bite of pie, tucking it into her mouth with a happy sigh. She chewed, closing her eyes, then opened them and grinned broadly. "Oh, that's good. It's been forever since I've had lemon pie."

"Well, thanks for playing," grinned Ershey, taking a bite out of the pie as well. "You know anyone else around here, by the way?"

She shook her head as she chewed another bite of pie. "Not really. I'm staying at a boarding house nearby, but everyone there works nights, so I never see anyone."

"You should just move to the newsies lodging house... er, I'm sure you don't have to be a newsie but as long as you pay, no one's going to kick you out. We're more fun, anyway."

"Do you think so?" Birdie asked. She considered the idea as she nudged a few crumbs around on her plate with the tip of her fork. "Do you think I could be a newsie, too? It might make a little more money..."

"Yeah, that'll definitely help! And it's up to you how often and how much you want to sell," said Ershey, taking a bite out of the pie.

She sat back against the bench. "Thank you, Ershey. Really. You've been so nice to me." She smiled. "I really appreciate it."

"Don't worry about it," she smiled. "It's always good to know people around the area, anyway. Especially if you're new. Well, sort of. Did you want to see what the lodging house is like?"

She nodded quickly, grinning. "Yes!" She picked up a last crumb of pie crust from her plate, then grabbed her case. "Honestly, though, it could be a wooden crate with a blanket over the top of it and still be better than where I am now."
((OOC: And now I am off to New Years festivities! Thank you for playing with me, Ershey!))

"Is it really that bad?" asked Ershey, quirking an eyebrow at her as they walked out of Tibby's.
((Have fun, love! No worries! ;D Happy New Year!))

((Happy New Year! I am up waaaay too early.))
Birdie laughed as she tucked her case up under her arm. "No, I suppose it isn't really. The roof leaks pretty badly when it rains, and some of the gaps in the floorboards are wide enough to drop a book through, but I have a bed to myself, and it's almost always quiet."
