Tag had been looking for a book. A book that wasn't published anymore, which made it extremely difficult to find. She'd looked in all the used bookstores around Manhattan, but none of them had possessed a copy. In the last shop she perused through, the owner had tipped her off that a bookstore in Brooklyn might have what she was looking for... Now, Tag didn't frequent Brooklyn too often, but she was more than willing to take a trip there for this book.
The only person who would understand this sojourn would've been Specs, but he was busy with selling and other...guy things. She wasn't really sure. But she was fine taking the trip alone; she didn't mind.
Once she stepped out of the bookstore, gripping the purchased book firmly in her hands, Tag couldn't help but smile. It was cold, but the sun was shining. Why not go down to the docks and read some? It would be an adventure. So there she settled, leaning against a post as she began to read.

Hawk had just come back from selling, and headed towards the docks to catch up on any business with some of his boys. It felt great being the one in charge this time, being able to take his time while selling, with no one to answer to.
As he made his way to his usual spot, he noticed a girl- an unfamiliar one- sitting and reading. "who is she?" he muttered to Lenny Stein, one of his trusted confidants.
"no clue. We've been trying to place her, but she doesn't seem harmful enough to question without reason to," Lenny replied, looking at the girl.
"there's always a reason to," Hawk replied, giving Lenny a stern look and going over to sit next to her.
"Hello, Sweetheart. whatcha reading?" He offered her a friendly smile.

Tag jumped, the sudden presence of a boy startling her. "Oh," she replied, breathlessly. "Er...It's called Walking with Pharaohs. It's an old book." She glanced over at the boy, and her heart jumped. My, he was good looking.

Hawk smiled at her, but his guard still wasn't down yet. "Where'd you come from?"

"Manhattan," she replied, closing the book around her finger, so as to keep her page. Why was he so interested?

Hawk let out a sigh of relief. Manhattan would never attack them. Bronx maybe, especially after he abandoned Hunter to die, but Manhattan- nah, this girl was safe. "And ya came all this way to read at our docks?" he smiled at her, amused.

She bit her lip to suppress a smile, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Oh, he was going to think she was incredibly dorky. "No...I was looking for this particular book, and no bookstore in Manhattan had it in stock. But one here did. I decided to stay here for a bit... It's a beautiful day..."

Hawk chuckled. What a sweet girl like this one was doing in Brooklyn - book or no book- he'd never know. "Hasnt anyone told you that Brooklyn..ain't all that safe? especially for a pretty girl like yourself."

Tag blushed profusely, though she scolded herself for it. She hated that she couldn't hide her emotions well. It was extremely embarrassing!
"Does that mean I should leave, then?" she inquired, quite surprised to hear a hint of flirtatious teasing in her tone.

Hawk smiled at her. "Actually, you must be one lucky broad, because you are currently conversing with Brooklyn's head of security." He leaned back on his hands, proud. "Name's Hawk Hoffman, the leader of Brooklyn. And you are...?"

"Lillian Wellsley," she replied with a small nod. "Though everyone calls me Tag." She only glanced at him, her eyes darting between him, the water, and her book. She very much wanted to study him, but she was not nearly bold enough to do such a thing. She also wondered how he had gotten the nickname of 'Hawk.' It was quite curious...

"Tag, huh?" He glanced over at Lenny, who was listening, and quickly disappeared to find out more about her. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Thank you," she replied, trying not to smile like a little girl who'd just unwrapped a doll on Christmas morning. Hawk was an extremely good-looking boy, one who was actually talking to her and thought it was a 'pleasure' to meet her.
"I'd have to say the same."

It was only a matter of time before the old Brooklyn crew realized that he was finally in power, and Hawk wanted to enjoy himself until then. A sweet pretty girl like Tag...well, it was exactly what he needed.
"Well since you found yourself at the Brooklyn Docks, Miss Lillian, would you like a boat ride? A couple of us have a small steamboat...I can take ya out on the river. You can get a close up look of Lady Liberty."

Tag furrowed her brow, biting her lip as she glanced over at him. "I...I don't know..." She had been ready to reject his offer until he'd said the part about seeing the Statue of Liberty up close... She'd always wanted to, and she hadn't had a chance while her family was still alive and while she'd still had the means to.
