She smiled over at him, the cold wind blowing her hair partially into her face. "I'm quite glad the snow is melted and the temperature is a bit warmer or else most of this water would probably be frozen," she stated, gazing out over the water for signs of dolphins or fish.

Hawk smiled at her. "yes, that's very true." he chuckled, looking out into the sea. "do you sell papers in Manhattan, Lillian?"

"I do, as a matter of fact," she replied with a small nod. "The clothes give it away, I'm sure." She gestured to her shabby pants and boots and the patched up coat that covered her wrinkled shirt. She hated these clothes.

Hawk chuckled. "yeah, they kind of did....you wouldn't want to wear your prettiest of dresses while you sell."

She let out a soft sigh. "If only I still had some dresses..."

hawk frowned, leaning back. "a pretty girl like you without any quality dresses? That's...awful!" he shook his head."I dont like hearing that.".

A sad smile appeared on her lips as she glanced over at him. "Well, I did have one...but I had to sell it because...well, being a newsie doesn't necessarily pay a lot of money," she chuckled, looking down at the water. "But...it's all right. I mean, what need do I have of a nice dress? It's not like I go to the theater anymore..."

Hawk smiled at her. "I can get you a pretty dress and a ticket to your theater," he offered, with a shrug. "if you are interested." the boat sped down the river, the statue of liberty finally in sight.

"Oh, no, I couldn't --" Tag's voice trailed off as she saw the Statue of Liberty. "Oh my..." she whispered. It was magnificent.

"Yes, she is a beauty." Hawk motioned for Lenny to pull over, and they walked onto the island.

Tag was surprised she didn't trip over anything, for not once did she even glance down at her feet. Her eyes were glued to the statue and all its splendor.
"Oh wow," she said finally, her head tilted back almost as far as it could go. "I never imagined..."

Hawk looked up too. "wanna walk to the top?" he grinned at her.

Tag's eyes widened even more. "We...we can do that? Are you positive?"

"Yeah. It's a long way up, though. I'll help ya if ya can't make it." hawk replied, takin her hand and leading her inside the statue.

Tag's first instinct was to pull her hand away. She thought of Specs and how improper it was to allow Hawk to hold her hand. But...he was merely being helpful. It was quite innocent and harmless. Of course it was. So she followed him, hugging her book to her chest with one hand, holding onto Hawk's hand with her other.
