"He threw your last boyfriend out a window and almost pushed me off a bridge," he reminded her. "This is a totally fair question."

"He didn't almost push you off the bridge, don't be overdramatic. And these questions are supposed to be about us."

He sighed. "Fine. What do you like best about Copper? 'Cause I'd get on his good side if I could, y'know." This last bit was muffled by a mouthful of cheesy pretzel as the vendor handed over their treats.

Sapphy's frown softened as she looked at Racetrack. She bit into her pretezel thoughtfully, chewing slowly.
She swallowed, then spoke: "He makes me laugh. He's always there for me. At times, it feels like we can read each other's minds. He takes care of me and lets me take care of him. And. Uh, Race? He's my brother."

"I've noticed," Race assured her with a dry laugh. "Otherwise I could just avoid him." He looked around at the flashing lights, the whirling Ferris wheel. "What's the best memory you can think of?" They didn't often ask questions about happy things.

Sapphy looked thrown off-guard by a reasonably normal question. She started to blush darkly.

He turned at her silence, saw her blushing, and found himself very much intrigued. "Should I change it again?" he asked generously nonetheless.

"I feel like I'm supposed to say when Copper found me on the bridge. But..." She lost her voice for a second. She cleared her throat to regain it. "My best memory? When I saw you on the docks in Brooklyn, after that night of poker and... And you were safe."

((Awwww! Probably one of my favorite threads ever.))
He just stared at her for a few seconds, kind of stunned. He'd honestly expected something involving her family. "Really?" he said at last. "Can I kiss you for that?" Since he was already leaning in to do so.

Sapphy sort of smashed her lips against Racetrack's in desperation. Her fingers twisted in his hair.

His hand slid down her back as he responded in surprise to the intensity of the kiss. She tasted like pretzel and cheese, and he probably did too, and that was absolutely fine with him--until the pretzel vendor cleared his throat loudly. "Hey, knock it off! This's a family attraction!"
Race rolled his eyes and leaned back slightly, smiling at Sapphy. "Third question...what do you wanna do next?"

"Piss off this pretezel vendor," she muttered, grinning.

"You sure about that?" he asked, a mischievous gleam in his eye. "Just stop me when you think he's pissed enough, then." And he pounced on her, one hand on her back and the other cupping her neck, kissing her so fiercely that they were almost stretched out on the ground.

Sapphy was giggling too much to kiss Racetrack back properly. She heard angry scolding coming from the pretzel vendor.
Their own pretzels had fallen on the ground, forgotten.
