Pie did snort this time, a little stunned. "Jesus, Kelly, you got it that bad?" He shook his head and drained his drink. Well, this was a surprise -- the Great Jack Kelly, smitten with a little kid like Birdie? Pie certainly did not envy him.

Starting to laugh, Pie leaned back in his chair and waved his hand for another round of drinks. God knew, they were both going to need them. "Oh, you poor kid," he said with a chuckle. "And what does your fair damsel think about you?"
